A friend of mine just got 3 new screens for his truck and i was thinking of installing an xbox for the main screen with a Decoder for DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 for his stereo system.

I looked into getting some Logitec wireless controllers to access the menus for games and the DVD remote to access the Mp3, DVD, and xbox games menu's while he's driving. The XBOX is going to be fully modded with the latest EvoX bios and a 160 - 250 Gb Hard Drive full of Mp3's, DVD's, Games, Emulators on the HD.

For the DVD remote i was thinking of just getting an extension with shielded cable to extend out the dongle for the remote and then put it somewhere up front where the controllers are. Since the controller dongles are USB based it's always a possibilty to just mount the box anywhere and extend out the dongles away from the xbox controller ports.
My questions are: has anyone installed an xbox in a car and relocated the controller ports to the center dash of their car?
Where did you mount the XBOX? (doesn't need to be in reach of anyone really but what do you guys do to keep the DVD and HD from bouncing around too much)
Has anyone set up Dolby Digital surround or DTS in their cars for movies?
And yes the modded box is 100% legal so please don't close the thread because you think i'm talking about piracy. The games, DVD's and songs on the Hard Drive are backups of the ones inside his house.

i have seen pictures on sounddoamin where the people literally take apart the xbox or ps2 and mount pieces in several different places.
One guy took apart the system and mounted the cd tray below his cd player on the dash and then relocated the controller ports to the center consel (sp?).
It can happen.......but i think i would either make sure i knew what i was doing with sodering or take it to a custom stereo shop.....they may charge out the butt.
Another option is that u could mount the xbox behind the seat of the passenger or driver, then run all the controler wires through the centerl concel. If u want a clean install i would run controler extentions up the concel and where our lil tray thingy is infront of the actual concel (2003-2004) cut it out and fiber glass a lil box that holds the plugs for controlers. There u can plug in ur corded or corless base for the controlers.
BTW: i have heard a lot about these mod'd xboxs........how the hell do you do all that, and what does it to run like windows xp off the machine? Sounds pimp i may have to do that, or get one that is mod'd.

Yeah i modded the box so i how all the soldering and stuff works out. I was planning on relocating the controller ports to the front anyways but i wasn't planning on even having a DVD drive in the XBOX. I was going to load up the songs, movies, games into the box and get a wireless connection to the box so that if he wants new songs or stuff in the box he would have to pull up into his drive way and "File Transfer Protocol" the games wirelessly into the xbox harddrive from his home computer.
I already figured everything out pretty much. We're already started making the boxes and what not for this. I got most of the info i needed off an xbox modding forum.

And someone just got XP to load up on an xbox and display whats on the HardDrive but it's not operational. There are many other PC applications that work such as XBOX Media Player (Windows Media Player), Linux, and a few other useful applications
It'll be a few more months till XP will run on a box
