Steering Wheel Vibrations

It has gotten cold around where I live. What I am noticing is that if I drive my car after parking it in the cold the steering wheel vibrates from 50 mph + until it warms up. Even after it warms up the vibration is still present from 70-75mph but the other speed ranges are smooth. I have an automatic transmission, is my transmission going or do you think I need to balance my tires. I think it is the cheesy OEM firestones causing the problem. Anyone else experienced this?

hmmm, when i start my car in the morning there is slight vibration... If anything it can be the balancing with the tires (?) I recently bought a Neuspeed upper strut bar, and my steering wheel doesnt even move anymore... The ride is sooooo much better! Whenever i would go 60+MPH the car steering wheel would shake... Now, It hardly moves... Very good investment

I have expierenced this after i took my car to the honda dealership and they rotated my tires.. i belive that either my tires are out of balance or my tires are direictional tires and the dealer crossed them when they switched from front to back but i have the same problem on driving 60+ it starts to shake...

the shake is from either out of round tires ot out of balance. I had this problem after going from factory wheels to 17" wheels an upper strut bar helps retaliate some of that also but the best thing is to get them rebalanced.

I've had my car in for that problem 5 times and they still haven't fixed it. The tires have been balanced and rotated 4 times. Last time I took my car somewhere besides Honda and they said I had a bad tire that it was probably a broken belt in my tire. My steering wheel shakes really bad when I get 60+ and my car pulls to the right even though it is aligned perfectly.

Same here, mine is lowered with teins, 17" centerlines and it still shakes everyonce in a while, the neuspeed bar did help, but I would still say that it has to do with the tires.

my sister had this problem on her acura 3.2, its turned out that something in the rack/pinion in the steering cracked or something and needed to be replaced. the steering wheel was shaking pretty bad when she was going fast and during breaking.

this is a civic staple. Most civics start to shake after around 60 mph, not just our generations. What it is, is the alignment on civics are very sensitive and can get thrown off real easily. I have no idea why, but it is like how mazda's engines shake alot after like 20k miles and there is no reasoning behind it. It is like that for civics.

I am hoping that it is not a cracked steering component, but I am going to get my tires rebalanced this weekend and if it still persist I am going to bring it to the dealer. I also do have the Neuspeed strut bar and this problem still occur. I am almost 100% sure that it is tire related. Most likely the cold weather stiffen up the tires so that the flat spot from parking remains causing a temporary out of round condition until everything warms up from driving.
