check engine light
hey everyone, my friend has a 97 accord and he posted somthing on another site and he's had no replies.... so i was thinking, maybe you guys can help him out.. this is what he posted:
"HEY YALL I HAVE A 1997 HONDA ACCORD... WHENEVER I TRY TO PASS 100 MPH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON.... WAT THE HELL ISH GOINS ON.. IT DIDNT HAPPEN BEFORE.... MY CAR IS 103000 MILES.....
JUST THE OTHER DAY I WENT TO GET MY INSPECTION DONE... AND I FAILED THE TEST.... IT SAYS OXYGEN SENOSOR FAIL.... EVAPOROTIVE SYSTEM FAIL... AND CATYLST FAILED... WAT IS THE PROBLEM...?
THEREFORE I WENT TO A SHOP TO TRY TO FIX MAH O2 SENSOR.... BUT THEY SAY I COULDNT AFTA THEY LOOKED AT IT... SAYIN THAT SINCE I HAB A HIGH PERFORMANCE EXHAUST MANIFOLD.. I THEREFORE HAB NO O2 SENSOR TO ATTACH TO... PLEASE HELP MEE OUT HERE PEEPO.. THANKS ALOT..."

Well your buddy doesnt have a provision or bung(hole to install the 02 sensor) for the 02 sensor on his high performance manifold. He would either need to:
1. Install the stock manifold with 02 sensor
2. Install an certified smog legal after-market manifold with 02 sensor provision
3. Install an 02 simulator and hope that it passes visual inspection
4. Pay some shady smog technician to pass him with botched test results

maybe after you hit 100 mph, your engine cant handle that speed and the checl engine light comes on to let you know that. thats just my opinion, I am probably way off though.
yea it just sounds like a faulty o2 sensor.. or none at all.. but ur problem is the car not being stock IMO .. return it to stock... did you have the car inspected with the after market header installed before? if not .. the obviously thats ur problem.. or ur exhaust system..
