1.7el kit on a 7thgen?
Would a 1.7 el kit fit on a 7thgen civic coupe? are the bumpers almost the same or will it not fit/require too much cutting. I searched couldn't find anything on it thanks.
no our bumpers are not the same... the El's lights are different along with the fenders and hood.... even if u got a EL lip kit it still wouldnt fit the EL's front bumer is more pointed in the center.... The rear and sides would fit if u drive a sedan tho.
only in canada... its a 4 door civic, with leather standard, different front front ends, different rears.... i think heated mirrors, and maybe traction control... but yea hence the NAME 1.7 EL .. same engine.. and its make by acura.

Front ends are different in terms of headlights, fenders, bumper (note the turn signals in front are in the bumper lights and not on the headlight assembly).
1.7L VTEC engine standard on both trim models.
No traction control.
Heated mirrors standard.
Trunk lid (and inner taillights) are different from the Civic sedan, but the outers and rear bumper are same part numbers.
The EL is essentially a Civic EX sedan with a few more options. In Canada there are no VTEC-equipped 7th-gen Civic sedans. Honda used that distinction in order to create a lower-priced Acura model to fill the showroom floors at Acura dealerships.
Here's a pic (note the beak on the hood and front bumper too):

I live in Canada and I see these things all the time. It annoys me that Honda created Acura in the first place, but when they merely copy a Honda car and rebadge it as an Acura, it is even more annoying. A 1.7 Premium comes close to the Accord in price and in my opinion, there is no comparison between a 1.7 and the new Accord. Our American friends crave this car because it is a novelty to them. It is nothing special.

Ouch, that hurt....oh well, I love my baby and that's all that counts.
Hey taz757, the park light bulb is simply a 194. I tried fitting this headlight to a Civic some time ago, just as a test, and it involves modding not just the lights, but the fenders, hood, and front bumper....otherwise there would be gaps in some places, and rubbing in others.

I'm not knocking people for buying these cars or modifying them. I'm sure Telly's ride is fantastic. I just don't see the need for the 1.7. I feel like Honda is taking us for fools. I feel the creation of Acura, Infinity and Lexus was to make "stupid North Americans" think they were driving something more special than a Honda, Nissan or Toyota.

Front lip won't fit - final answer. As well the beak would look rather silly on the bottom considering the Civic bumper is curved.
I agreeAudioQuest, that really Acura/Lexus/Infiniti were really just marketing ploys to make North Americans buy gussied-up cars for more money, and have them expect more prestige than having the Honda/Toyota/Nissan brand instead. But hey, where else are you gonna get an integra/is300/35, right?
