Question Celica GT-S vs. RSX-S

lol I like this vid. lol Celica GT-S vs. RSX-S
If anybody Runs at the Socal tracks, I wanna get a better vid or vids or my Celica GT-S and some RSX-S's with or without mods doesnt matter. Stock would be cool too. The guy in this vid Has CAI/E. the Vid was taken at Irwindale. I slipped second so he almost caught me. lol Want to get some 1/4 mile runs too not just 1/8. I usually go to California Speedway for 1/4. Pm if you're interested. My Celica Is 100% stock. In case you're wondering why? I want to make a "library" so to speak of my car vs other cars I like!

Yeah I spanked him off the line but my 2nd gear went out on the run before so it slipped again and I got a **** time. But I did end up winning by .2 seconds. if it was the 1/4 he would have caught up. That was by far his best run all day he was hitting 10.3's all day. My first run was the best one I had I got a 9.91

yeah I stil ain't the greatest driver. Since that is the most important mod lol I'm knockin that out first. Plus it'll just be fun stuff to watch.

soon as I can get 14.9 consistant I'm gonna start modding. Right now I'm still not consistent enough. I'm gonna keep the mods simple at first.

I want to get :
Intake,
exhaust,
UR pulleys,
Power FC,
light weight rims w/slicks,
XS Turbo,
I'm gonna get a lightwieght battery and put it in the rear So I can make a ram air effect for the turbo.
Turbo celicas don't do good on the track because of where the turbo sits, it gets no air.

I've got the plan just need to learn how to drive, and get the $$$ lol

Sweet man! Good luck with those mods.

And I think it's cool that you're working on your driving skills before doing any kind of major modding.

RSX-S (runs low 15s)
Celica GT-S (runs mid 15s)

so your answer is RSX

um sorry alpine GTS doesnt run mid 15's. Im all stock and have a new best of 14.85 in the 1/4. 100 degree heat high humidity. But the average gts is low 15's. The RSX-S and the Celica GT-S are basically the same car. Its all on driver. for example the video you saw we both were shitty runs but I was better off the line therefore I won.

That day was my second time at a track.

My point is dont underestimate either car they are both comperable and good in their own rights. Also we have a couple canadians with just intake hitting 14.1 - 14.2 now those are freak times but there are 4 guys that do it consistent.

Yep, you're right. Alot of it has to do with the driver when comparing the celica vs the rsx. They're basically the same thing. I'd visit our local track every now and then and the guys up here were running mid 14's in 90+ degree weather in the summer in type s's. Last day of the season when it was much cooler (around 70) they were getting low 14's like expected. Someone with just a hondata ecu and lightened flywheel was running high 13's consistantly. Not a whole lot of celicas on the track around here for some reason or they just raced on different days than i was watching.

He did beat him. You did see correctly. Why are you saying you won when you didn't?

um ok you obviously didnt notice how far ahead I was when I crossed the line I said he was a bad driver. See when youre on the track R/T does not count in ET but it WILL count in who crosses the line first. had there been no clock all youd see is me spankin him badly. now this is already old cause my driving is way better that was a bad run for me that day I ran 9.9's that run I ran 10.0 cause I messed something up. now last thurs I ran 9.617 @ 75.04 mph and my other runs were all 9.6's.
But yes timeslip says at the bottom what lane crossed first thats who won the time is just for tuning purposes so you know how you do.

to niter - we have similar problem we dont get many celicas or rsx-s at the track.

not really cause that blitz kit sux majorly bad. we got an N/a celi with full bolt ons running just as fast on the track all you gain is a gri of unusable torque. it's a $7k waste. lol I'd take the XS turbo for less money and more gains!!!!

BTW as of thursday my new best is 9.434 @ 76.03 mph no new mods just better driving. I'm runnin the same setup as in that vid!!

for a 25 hp gain I wouldnt pay that much. it does help out your torque a grip though. the biggest prob is it is high inconsistent 1 celi might gain 60 hp the next 20 hp too risky for me!

The celica is really hard to get traction on. I see them running consistant 16's in the gts model, but thats due to traction. I bet 00celicata9ts6spd is a good driver to b reak into 14 with stock.

Basically the same car? Close but not really.

I'll make sure to let you all know as soon as I lose to a Celica.
