stock guage cluster wiring.
Hey guys, i've notcies that at night when i do not turn my headlights on, my guage cluster is very bright but soon as i turn on my headlights, it dims down. Is there a way to always keep the guage cluster very bright and not have it dim down once the headlights are on? thx.
When you start the car, the electric current from the battery only has to travel to certain parts (like the cluster & the oem radio clock).
when you switch the headlights on, the electric current now has to go through many more paths to lit up all the components that use a bulb. The current gets split so many times and is needed by so many more parts, that when electric reaches the gauges, it is somewhat weaker/slowed down.
I agree. During the day, when I turn my parking lights+foglights on, I can't see which gear is lit up on the indicator on the instrument cluster (I have auto; P R N D 2 d3 on the cluster). You can try adding another battery (a member has a second battery in his trunk) which will add more power(lights will be brighter), but that dimming will always be there. You can stop this by supplying the cluster a totally separate power source. This way, the cluster will never dim since it is the only thing using it's power source.

youre all wrong, its just illumination. its a safety feature on car clusters and stereos. take a multimeter to the wires and find which wire loses current when the headlights turn on. on aftermarket headunits its orange/white.
