Jammers and Detectors are different. IIRC true Jammers are illegal 50 state wide because of the FCC. The FCC Said they were an illegal transmitter that violated standard broadcasting laws so they were made illegal. Heard that from a buddy of mine and it makes sense.

But then again that's for jammers, detectors aren't illegal all over, just in Virginia and a few other places.

Hey how do these things work? do they have to be placed behind the windshield to work properly? How do they warn(beeping, some sort of message,..)?? The model that u got, does it turn off when it detects cops' Radar detector detector?

Your Right!

Google: http://www.radarjammer.com/

My dad tought me every thing about the Escort one. Some have arrows, some have frequencies. Cops use a certin frequency to detect speed. Soooo if a certin frequency comes across the detector, I would SLOW DOWN (in a nut shell)

The problem is that once your detector picks it up you are kinda already caught. That and they do nothing against laser based systems. The best way to not get a speeding ticket? Don't speed. Second best way, learn where the local cops sit and watch the flow of traffic. If you see 5 or 6 truckers only doing 70 in a 65 there's a good bet that there's a cop around.

Gona have to disagree with that one. I pick up radar as far as two miles away! YES! So if I get one beep I don’t like or question what it is, I slow down. Of course I keep my eyes peeled for cops and radar traps!

As for laser you are correct, it is the best defense against speeders. As soon as your hit with laser, BAM caught!

But, have you ever been in a car with a radar detector that can detect laser??? I have!(mine) One time the car next to ME got tagged! My radar detector sounded like WW3 just HIT!

And plus have a radar detector is the only way IMO to play this STUPID "cat & mouse" game the cops play against speeders!

I personally hate how cops can do pretty much everything to catch speeders. Don't get me wrong, the kid that is weaving through traffic deserves to get pulled over but people doing 10 over the limit with traffic or 15 over with no other cars on the road are a waste of time.

In NJ the State Troopers now have unmarked Chargers for some of their highway cars. And while driving home t'other night I was cruising next to an unmarked car and all of a sudden his light bars go off and he pulled next to a disabled motorist. I had NO way of knowing that was a cop, and considering it wasn't your standard cop fare(ie a Crown Vic or some variant) I'd be a little scared seeing someone just drop out of traffic in an unmarked coming to the side of the road.

Eyes and common sense are the best tools to use to augment a radar detector.

Yep in arizonia I have seen them drive CIVIC's too! Shitty!

But, if the cop was next to you when he shot radar at that other guy... & you had a radar detector... you'd be all "O' Snap Cops" And slow down cus you now know its a cop

Not arguing with you! I just love my radar dectector! Saved my *** more then once!

I kinda crapped my pants a bit when I saw him break off and turn on his lights because we were both doing 70 in a 50(as were around 10 other cars around us)... I've never seen so many people slow down that quickly.

radar jammers are illegal in almost all or most states. radar jammers conflict with federal laws because you are also capable of jamming radar frequencies from AIRPLANES. radar jammers = raining airplanes

yea right, I find it a little hard to believe that a radar/laser jammer you can buy is strong enough to cancel out airplane signals. Tons of people use them, have you ever seen a story on the news about a plan crash because of them? Yea, neither have I.
