Alright, I'm thinkin' about getting a radar jammer - which would be legal everywhere except Virginia an' a few other states - but I'm having a tough time figuring out which one. Has anybody gotten one yet, or know what would be the most cost-effective one out there? I mean, without getting a $600 system, I'll just pay the damn ticket instead. But around $200 or $300, roughly? The 2 I read about that got high grades were the Lidatek Echo and the Blinder M-10 Twin.
If anyone has experience in this, please lemme know. Much appreciated!!

Rep Power: 0 Yeah, I took mine off also......My car has enough stuff to look at for cops besides having him stare at the radar detector as I try to explain that I wasn't speeding......

Rep Power: 0 last time i checked a radar detector is legal in all but virginia, however i'm almost sure radar jammers are illegal in most if not all states. you better check your local and state laws and statues befor dropping 200-300 for a new toy.

Rep Power: 0 I think radar "jammers" are just a scam. Lidatek only offers as laser jammer - I know this because I have talked quite a bit with one of the company's owners - he knew his $hit about laser speed measurement. The only surefire way to not get a ticket is to drive the speed limit, but if you choose to drive faster (like me) you should do everything you can to minimize your chances of getting a ticket. Check out Valentine One's website for some info on how radar and radar detection works. After two tickets, I bought a V1 and couldn't image driving on the freeway without one! To be totally covered, add a lidatek jammer near your front license plate and one near your rear plate (your license plates are the best reflector for lasers). I would stay spend your money on a V1 before buying anything advertised as a jammer.

Rep Power: 0 i'm pretty sure this is how the law stands:
-radar DETECTORS are legal in all states but Virginia
-radar JAMMERs are ILLEGAL everywhere
-laser jammers are legal
i wouldn't even bother with the radar jammer. just like all the other guys said, i think it'll cause more harm than good

Rep Power: 0 If my memory doesn't fail, a while ago a cop told me that they have radio frequencies that they send to cars to detect jammers/detectors. Correct? QCKSILVER?

Rep Power: 0 Well, so much for trying to sound like I knew what I was talking about. Anyways thanks for the great opinions/advice guys. That Valentine One detector looks really nice, probably better than a lot I've seen. I always wondered what the point of spending $200 on a detector was, just so you have an advanced notice that you're getting a ticket. Wow. Great ..
Hey (randomguy) where did you order yours from, off their website? 'Cause $400 is a little much. But it does look like it's worth it. Lemme know man, thanks ..

Rep Power: 0 i've heard the exact same thing that civicboi said...
remember, there's a HUGE difference between laser and radar... radar can be detected from over a mile away, so you have ample time to slow down. laser is instant-on; you don't have any advanced warning. when your detector goes off, the cop has already tagged you... so basically, laser detection is useless. since laser jammers are legal, that's your only hope of defense -- although i'm sure any cop that gets an error/scrambled speed reading, he will pull you over anyway!

Rep Power: 0 Valentine and Passport are both top of the line for detectors.
A real radar jammer, an active one, is illegal in most states. The passive ones are mostly legal but only work at short distances. I believe you are better off with a good detector. The better ones have a "cloaking" device that prevents the cops from detecting them.
I run with a Passport and a CB radio. As long as there are some big trucks on the road, the CB will tell you where the cops are. For me the radar detector is a back-up in case I don't get a warning on the CB.
