im sure in some obscure thread this has been covered but here it is...

we all know what engines will fit, but im still not clear as to what engines are legal, esp in cali. i have read that it has to be same yr or newer and has to come from the same company. so, a k20a3 would be legal? but the k20a,a2 are not...

i will post this in the legal forum as well so please dont flame for misplacment, just thought it was also fitting here.

what is the deal with smoging the car with the different engine? how does it work if im in my 7thgen and have a k20a?

i read some where that your not suposed to have any motor in your car that is different than stock. but i dont think they inforce that law very strickly, but then again you are in cali, im glad i dont live there haha

According to SuperStreet a while ago, the motor has to be 1) the same year or newer and 2) the same size as stock.

i know that in san diego some of the police officers read the racing mags cause they are in the special street race busting task force, im sure that they would be able to tell, maybe not what series the engine is but that it was a different engine. but then again i live in fresno, which is a whole lotta country folk in a city that drives huge trucks.

but then again, when the water is calm theres also the potencial for the perfect storm...

cars older than 25 years don't have to go through smog .. which is why a '32 for would "pass"
