So i finally got pulled over for my smoked tail lights. THank god the cop wasnt an jerk cuz lately it seems that all the nicer police have dissapeared. He said just to take them off and to bring the car back to the station to show him they were off. What i dont understand is that at night they look just as bright and in the day they are a little more dim.

yeah, does anyone know the law about this? cuz i mean they were not that dark and i still have my brake light over my trunk lid which is perfectly visible

i know a third brake light is not even required on most cars

dont they sell new model cars that doesnt have a 3rd brake light?
does this law occur in certain states? im in CA and i never got hassled with my 3rd light de to my dark tint in the rear.. somebody fill me in

as for the smoked tails, i think the reflector or something has to be visable within a certain distance... im guessing 500 feet? im not exactly sure

maybe its required on cars that originaly came with 'em but if they didn't come with 'em they do not need to be installed

i am all most positive that the law say you have to be able to see them from 50 feet away
