Angry Ticket

State trooper passed me going over 90 then flys onto the shoulder, slows down then flips his lights on. He said he clocked me at 84 in a 65. After he gave me my ticket I asked why he was going so fast without lights or sirens on, his response "thats none of your business". Im fighting the ticket with hope of reducing my fine which may happen. I work in a conjoined building with state police and am going to talk to my boss tomorrow who was previously the manager of State Police. I guess he could have been an *** and wrote me up for my windows too, but I am still pissed he passed me going so fast then pulls me over saying I was speeding. I asked him when he clocked me and he said on the shoulder after he passed. As always cops can do whatever they want whenever they want.

F * ( K tickets

Anyone have anything to suggest?

be honest here... how fast were you REALLY going? if you WEREN'T doing the speed limit, and were going over... you have no one to blame except yourself. good luck trying to fight the ticket (your word over his, not a chance) unless you have proof.

My friends mom is the best in the area for speeding tickets so im calling her tomorrow. I think its B/S that he passes me going well over 90 then decides to slow down to clock me. I'll admit I was speeding but you know I figured I could follow a law officer who should be going the speed limit anyway. If he wasn't breaking the law by the way he was driving then I was not doing anything wrong.

I didnt even think my pos civic could go that fast

he has a badge and YOU don't. he can make up any excuse to justify what he was doing, when he was following/clocking you. just pay the ticket and go to traffic school.

Yeah, what he did was fine... nothing against that.

Most of the time, state troopers drive faster on the highways so they aren't stuck with the same traffic, but move faster than it. 90, however, is way too damn fast.

God, I don't think I've ever gone over 80 when patrolling the highway.

You can go to court and fight it, but you better have a good reason, state troopers are required to show up to any scheduled court date.

Best of luck.

Actually, being a police officer doesn't mean he can make up an excuse as to why he was breaking the law. Just like everyone else, he has to obey the law. In case you never read the Constitution, it states that NO ONE is above the law. If he is going to speed at 90 mph he has to have his sirens on and have a solid reason as to why. Cops can't go around doing whatever they feel is the law, they too must follow the law.

Wrong. They can try, and let unsuspecting citizens that don't give a crap about their own rights think they can do whatever. But reality is this, no matter what you do as an occupation (yes, even police officers) you are still subject to the same laws as everyone else.

Yeah driving in St. Louis is always a battle. What sucks is I work for the state and I still cant get someone to help me out. My building is joint with state police. I talked to my friends mom today she said for 50 bucks she will get it down to a non moving violation and 2 months court supervision. I guess Ill just pay the thing since I was wrong and should not have been driving that fast.

Lesson learned next time I'll go 83!

I would take your friends mom up on that offer. If you just pay it, it will go on your record and your insurance will go up. If it is a non-moving violation, it doesn't show up on your record. Good Luck!
