i love motorcycle cops
well....minding my own business driving 60 mph on a 50 mph road
driving next to a cop at an equal speed
he pulls me over and ...
cop: "you must be stupid for thinking you have the *****
to drive next to me"
me: "i apologize officer...i was unaware that you were next to me"
cop: "are you late or something or are you just plain stupid?"
me: "no sir...i'm not late"
cop: "are you not thinking?...what the hell made you think you can drive
beside me?....i'm doing 10 over the speed limit and you are next to me, meaning i have to pull you over."
me: "i'm sorry...i didn't mean too"
cop: "yeah, you better be sorry and now since i have you pulled over, I'm looking for a reason to give you a ticket....give me your license"
bam...i got myself a citation and have to appear in court October 4th
yeah...i brought it upon myself for speeding but the verbal abuse kinda hurt

that is just plain stupid. he is basically saying " do think think you are above the law like me?"
he kinda gave himself up. you know cops are not allowed to break laws either unless someone life is at stake or the public saftey is at stake. that is just rediculous(sp) honestly i would fight it. he does not have anymore right to speed than you. as far as your concerned you were going with the flow of traffic. remember if he is a head of everyo e he is setting the traffic's speed by pacing. if he is going 10 over then he is pacing everyone 10 over. that is not your fault. did the sign on the street say "max speed limit" or just "speed limit" if it is just "speed limit" you should research your county's max speed limit and state you never broke that speed even driving next to the cop who was setting the speed.

I'm not sure how the law is in your state, but down here in Miami, I'd send the ticket to court. You get a hearing date(I think they call it pre-trial) without the officer that gave you the ticket being present, the judge looks at your record and if it's good all they do is assign you a fee, maybe not much depends on your record and no points are assigned to your liscence. I'd also explain to the judge that you were totally honest and polite and that he was rude and an assole, even though that might not help much but I'd at least let them know that he was very rude.
They can be real jerks sometimes, but I can speak from my own experience. I've always gotten out of trouble by being honest to them, of course that doesn't always work. Good luck.
