Apparently Ran A Red
I was going downtown last night and I went through a yellow light and the red light went right as I was through and I got pulled over and given a ticket for $286. Any grounds on which I can dispute this, there is no way I'm going to be able to come up with $286 in a month. Can I dispute it saying that it was unsafe for me to stop as there was a vehicle coming up fast behind me, or that I thought the roads were slippery which they were so that me braking hard to stop would've just caused me to slide into the intersection. HELP ME!! haha

I think it's mostly your word against the cops. Unless there is a red light cam or someone you know that saw you.
You could say you slammed on the gas instead of the brake.
Man, first a speeding ticket in B.C., and now a red light ticket... what's next? haha j/k

easiest way to beat it would be to go in saying that under your descretion, you did not have enough space to safely stop for the amber so you proceeded with cation. And if it was raining/slippery even better for your case.

Set a trial date and make a request for disclosure of the officers notes.
setting a trial at the very least will buy you time.
getting a copy of the officers notes (which by law you are intittled to) will help you in preparing a defence at your trial.

zzzzzzzzz hmm what? sorry was asleep there. To be honest, im not sure. but either way, set a court date. call the court house and ask them.
im trying to help bro, but you threw a question i really dont know the answer to. but my advice to you is this....set a court date, get disclosure...worse case scenario is that you show up to court and the officer is there in which case you plea guilty and they reduce the fine or make it a lesser charge and you still stalled time to get the cash. plus you can ask for 30 days to pay the fine.
best case (and it happens very often) the officer fails to appear, and you plea not guilty. they either withdraw the charge or seek an adjornment. for the adjornment to be granted, therer has to be a very good reason.
bottom line is, if you know your rights, the court system is in your favour.
