Go Sens Go! Playoffs discussion!
Well, it's that time of the year! Where regular season comes to an end and the great ones move on at a chance to win Lord Stanley's Cup!
And what a season it's been! Sens finish first in the East while Toronto are playing golf as we speak! (sorry Caryn and Charles, but leafs suck! Just heard on the radio today that Pat Quinn got fired!) Yes folks, we couldn't ask for more!
So i decided to make a thread where we could talk about the playoffs! And where we could plan on getting together to watch the games if anyone is interested!
So, Go Sens Go!!!

Rep Power: 316 Awsome thread Freddy! I was happy to hear that Quin got canned. He was a looser. As for games, I'm sure Sheena wouldn't mind if I had some people over for the game. Hopefully they will be aired in High Definition. That would be awsome!

Caryn, this wasn't an attack at your old man, it was a cheap shot b/c he's a leaf fan. I'd do the same of my dad if he went to the dark side.

Really though I don't follow hockey so I am not a fan either way. Also my old man was not defending them. He was not blaming the new rules he just said that they had a hard time playing by these rules which showed everyone that they are a crappy team. Ya sure leaf fans wanted them to make it but they thought they didn't deserve it

MLSE (maple leafs sports and entertainment, the owner of the raptors and leafs) doesnt care about producing a good team because all they care about is money and it ends right there... selling tickets and apparel is all they care about. they have a 10-15 year waiting list on seasons tickets for leafs... the line is huge, and they have looked quite arrogant by telling the world that they dont need the general public to come out to a game here and there as they can always sell out every game by only selling season tickets. its true, but have some class, dont insult those who dont buy seasons tickets... i hate mlse, they ruin the game for torontonians. i understand the business side, who doesnt... but enough is enough. at least make it look like you wanna bring us the cup in TO... just thought id clear up the pathetic politics of MLSE
on another note... Good luck to the sens, but its gonna be tough with emery in net, hopefully for you sens fans, hasek comes back.

Rep Power: 316 ^ as much as I like the guy, his days are numbered. The last I heard he could skate fine, but was having troubles getting back up from going down into butterfly position. I don't think he will be coming back. It's time he retires.

the Senators do not need Hasek to get by on the Lightning. Emery has played great hockey since being called in and if the team hadn't played like azz the last little while we might have won the President's cup and not just the East.
I think tonights game was KEY because of a few things...
1) Any previous years Senators team would have lost that game 1-0 or tied it up only to lose the lead and the game 2-1. This team knew they would win and came out hard in the 3rd and took it to them hardcore.....4-1 win...
2) They didn't allow the past to haunt them...they never stopped battling
3) their star players WERE their star players
4) Havlat doesn't look like he missed a single game let alone 58 of them..lol

I was upset to find out today that CBC was only showing the Edmonton game from detroit today so I wasn't able to actually watch the Ottawa game...but I streamed in the radio from Team 1200. As far as I know the rest of the games are on the full network so I should be ok. We have digi cable here which doesn't carry CBC-East

Satelite does though ^totaly agree with Mike...Emery isn't the issue of our lost games before the stanley cup. It was the lack of defence and defensive players put on the injury list. Emery helped us clinch 1st place in the east and I know that we'll be bringing the cup home! there is no team in the NHL that wants it more then the sens!

What Hasek lacks - age, injury etc Emery lacks in the opposite - stanely cup win, experience etc ...
Beyond a doubt if Hasek is still the main goaltender for his Olympic team - that tells you the scale of difference between those 2. Lets face it Ottawa would only be that much stronger with a healthy Hasek in net.

Rep Power: 316 If he was HEALTHY. Key word. He has been plagued by injuries for years. I was happy, but surprised that he came out of retirement when he was in Detroit.

wow what a game tonight! did you see how tough Ottawa played? I loved how they applied pressure to Tampa when they were short handed which caused Tampa to lose or hand over the puck. There was Great contact around the boards led to a very competative game too. Emery played 100% and Redden came back and kept the defence together very nicely.
As the announcers said...they players really showed us how bad we want this cup in our city.

If it's a physical game, we can take tampa no problem, as we saw last night!

Redden showed remarkable composure last night...simply amazing. Havlat looks like he hasn't missed a game all year and the guys who were called out by the coach after game 2 answered the call!!!
