Rep Power: 0 Need Advice on Buying 02 Civic LX Coupe
Hi Folks,
I also posted this on Canada East - sorry for the cross post for those who read both forums!
My girlfriend is close to buying a used Civic from an Ottawa Honda dealership. I'd really like to hear people's opinions.
1. Is it a good car?
2. Is it a good deal?
3. Should she expect a better price and/or financing options?
4. Should she forget it and keep looking?
Here are the details:
2002 Honda Civic LX
2-door Coupe
Silver
4 speed automatic transmission
96,000 km
2 year warranty included
Rust proofing included
Price: $13,500.00
Financing offered at 6.9% interest
I would appreciate any and all feedback!
Cheers, Alan

Rep Power: 236 ^^^^ Buy Freddy's it's a good deal. Also what are the monthly payments at 6.9%? For 5 years I come up with roughly 350.00 per month.Right now at Honda you can get BRAND NEW at 1.9%.Payment would be around $450.00 for 5 years.I paid cash for my 05 Si and walked away at 23000.00 tax in on the road and they threw in OEM body kit,Si Logo frt and rr carpets, ashtray, and i got the Honda Plus 5 year 160000 km warranty.

Rep Power: 291 Do up freddy's ride.
That's a decent deal, but freddy's car is way more pimp. go through the bank for financing...6.9% is kinda high.

With the SI model your getting the VTEC 127hp engine
In the LX you don't, think it's VTEC but only 115hp (someone quote me on that)
With the SI model, you get rims - colour matched side mirrors and all the options
Freddy's also has about half the kilometers on it ... so thats saving you at least 2 years if average usage (25k a year)
Buying from a private sale, doesn't that save you one of the taxes ? I think even if you buy used off a dealership you have to pay both. Am I right ?

Thanks so much for the feedback. And for the offer Freddy! LOL
She really likes the security of the dealer (vs. private sale) and is going to try to beat him down a bit more. I'll let you know how it goes. Looks like a sweet car though.
Cheers, A
