Talking Omg...huge Pain In The A$$!!

So yesterday I'm at work and Frisby calls with to tell me my BF Goodrich KDW's have finally come in. So I take off for home to grab my Slipstreams and then head into Kanata to get everything put on the car.

Everything is going fine except for that they opened the trunk and for some reason it won't latch closed...no biggie, sometimes the lever sticks.

So the tires...and they look insane...go on the wheels fine and eventually get strapped onto the car.

Car comes down....but the trunk still won't. hmmmm.

I grab a trouble light from Matt and start lookin around the lever and find that the cable is off. So I grab a screw driver, pull the panel off by the hood release and then pop the lock out of the kick panel so I can take it out and get at the lever. That's when I noticed the cable wasn't off....it snapped It was so rusted that it wouldn't matter who pulled on that lever..it woulda busted.

So with a trunk full of Motegi MR7's I get a bungee from the manager of the shop and do what I can just to keep the lid down until I get home.

Unloaded the car and climbed in from the back seat into the trunk and strapped it down the best I could. I pulled the lightbulb out just in case so I don't have a repeat dead battery episode..hehe.

Problem solved right? WRONG....

Jim calls me this morning..I'm helpin Jo move into her new place today. Problem...I have NO GAS! That same cable that snapped is for both trunk and fuel door....****! So this morning I climb back into the trunk and pull the sides down and manage to pop the fuel door...thankfully...phew...

Anyway...huge pain in the *** but it's gonna have to hold til Monday when it goes in for a new cable. For now it's off to play mover.

See you guys tonight...it's supposed to clear by early evening.

Yep, same problem happened to me, only it was like -40 outside. Cause a scene at Honda with the service manager, and I'm sure he'll drop the price!

Sadly , I join this group too .. was in mid-winter for me too. Couldn't gas up, and boss blaming me for washing the car the previous day - why the gas tank wouldn't open. to him

Anyways, yeah - sucks to happen. Not that hard of a fix, once you know what you are doing (at least for a sedan). I saw them (bodyshop where I bought the car) replace mine, so I can say that I guess.. just a long process of removing panels. Maybe its a bit harder for the coupes, but as I wouldn't know.

I think there's a pulley that allows the one cable to open both the trunk and the gas door. Perhaps your problem lies there?

I finally got my cable replaced...hehe

just pop it out and have a look at it. maybe it's not alligned properly.

Just pop the plastic off around the lock and then use a flat head to pop the lock mechanism out.
