French only adds on busses???
awel, I'm english and I've lived in quebec my whole life, I find that at every store or anywhere you go they'll speak to you in english if you want, like when im working i'll speak which ever language the person is trying to speak rather than the one I'm more comfortable with. For the bus ads though, what would be the point of advertising say french radio in english? Chances are good your not going to listen to it if you can't speak french, so it doesn't really matter if you can read the sign since it doesn't apply to you, no?

ok, this topic does suck, and Mike you're being a drama queen! he he...
The reason why they have laws in quebec is because they want to keep they're language... although ontario isn't anywhere neer losing it's english...
so having french adds in ontario isn't the same as having english adds in quebec... imo!

"la loi 101" was created to preserve French because english was making a bigger presence in Quebec and there was really a fear that they were being assimilated by the English... you think english people in Ontario need to make a law to preserve English... honnestly, do you? so don't say it's the same thing...
The add was for teens with regards to drinking and driving and it's Federally funded.
ahh..don't talk about 101. That thing turned my high school into a prison complex...god what a horrible time to be a kid. I was made to feel like dirt because I didn't speak french and I thought that when I came to Ottawa I would be able to have both languages without any debate. I'm only saying that in Ontario, this close to quebec...if the government is going to fund some add for drinking and driving or whatever it should be in both languages if it's on this side of the bridge...I don't care what they do in Quebec...fact is that the same add is also used on the busses over there and it's also in French only.
How the hell did I miss this thread? Hey Mike what were they advertising on the bus? If it were lets say a french radio station or something it would have no need for it to be in english. Also maybe that is a bus that goes into hull.
Edit-I just read above so I know what the ad was about.
