So I was on my way back to Ottawa from my g.f's place in Brantford this morning. I left at 7:30 but the traffic on the 403 and 401 was so bad that it set me back a bit.
I was just around Cobourgh (sp) still on the 401 and doing about 130ish km/h. As I come over the hill I see an OPP cruiser in the distance...about 600-800 meters away heading in the same direction as me. I slow down to 115 and then as I pass him I'm doing 110....I notice that he slowed down quite a bit as I approached him....then as I pass, he flashes the lights and pulls me over.
Here's the odd part. I said I was doing 130km/h ok.....This guy comes to my window and says..."Good morning sir....welcome to blah blah county, where 100 km/h means 100 km/h and not 146 km/h" Then he asks for my reg, lic and ins and walks away.
Then he comes back, hands me my damn ticket and stuff and just walks away with NO EXPLANATION or anything! Like WTF? Not to mention, he didn't reduce it all......$341.00 total. I don't even know if it was his rear looking radar that got me or if he had a scout. I'm told that if it was a scout he (by law) has to tell me.
I called POINTTS on the way home and they told me that although they can't represent me because they have no office there that I should definately fight it since I go by there every week anyway.
I have to renew my insurance soon so I know this won't appear prior to that thankfully.....BUT I'm still supers pissed at this and I've never, in all my years of driving, encountered a bigger jack *** of a cop than this guy.
Anyway - that's my morning....hope yours was better.

Sorry to hear that man, I say fight it, and I hope you win. Cops don't need to be ****** when they do their jobs - I've gotten pulled over by cops who were perfectly nice to me, even though I was at fault. Hell, when I got pulled over for drunk driving the cop treated me like a freakin human being, cause you're innocent till proven guilty in a court of LAW. I don't understand why there are so many cops with attitude out there tainting the badge, giving their more personable comrades a bad rep. I mean, don't they have that psych test for a reason?

i don't get it? all cops have done that to me - no explanation, nothin. imagine having that and only that as a perspective on cops, you'd hate them right? welcome to my world where nobody understands where my hatred for cops comes from. haha
sorry to hear about your ticket though - that sucks. whats pointts?

Cops are humans. Put any member here in a position of power and I'm sure they'd abuse it at one point or another. I'm sure a lot of us have been in predicaments much worse involving red neck cops, (myself included) - be glad you werent pulled over because of the color of your skin.

Mike, dude, I had a feeling this would happen
You got lucky all those times driving on the 401. Shitty that you got pulled over though. Thats a hefty ticket. That cop had no right to be an a$$hole to you at all.
Let us know how this unfolds!

Well at first he seemed really nice but then he made that smart *** remark and it all went downhill from there.
He was all mad cuz there's a part of my ownership missing but really, the dealership has it for when they do the plate transfer on the new car. He's telling me I should have a photocopy of it......I think he's full of ****.
oh well.

ok yes, I've been getting away with it for awhile now but still..that cop was a **** and that's more the reason I'm fighting this I think than anything..lol. I'm gonna get it wiped out or reduced to something the equivalent of a j-walking charge...heh.
I'll drop the NOT GUILTY plea off on my way back to Monique's on Friday.

ok
so i have this amazing new para legal now, and he basically has like a 95% record for getting tickets thrown out. basically what the cop did was illegal, he doesnt have to show you on the spot how fast you were goin, but he does have to provide that evidence in court...which i can assure you he doesnt have if you saw yourself your speedo at 130, you obviously werent going 146. my paralegal works as far north as north bay, so i dont think ti will be an issue to help you out either....pm me if you need his # and i can give it to you...at the least give him a call and tell him your story, see what he has to say.

I was talking to my uncle in Toronto. he's internal affairs for the Metro T.O police. He said that I'd be nutts not to fight it and pointed out the few things that the officer did wrong that I should bring up in court.
