Alberta govt will pay tuition increases for 2005
So King Ralph was on last night, and man, I couldn't believe my ears... the Alberta government, in it's infinite wisdom, will pay the tuition increases for 2005 for all Universities, Colleges, and Technical Schools in the province.... and on a side note, the minimum wage will increase too!
Too bad I'm graduating this semester, but it is certainly welcome help for all students here in Alberta.
Another reason why Alberta is the best province to live in....

Thanks for the sig compliment.
The man is just trying to make a legacy for himself before he clocks out of politics, if he thinks a year of tuition freezes will make up for the last decade or so of our province booming and no attention being paid to post-secondary he must have completely lost it.

He's not perfect, and maybe he is doind that just to leave a legacy, but at least he acknowledged the pleas of students in Alberta. He could have just as easily done nothing at all.
All in all, it's still a good thing. I wonder what the minimum wage will increase to?

his excuses are always funny. at least it's good to know he is still human and not perfect. he loves his drinks.
Yeah, the fact that his nose was perpetually red for over a decade says something about the relationship between a man and his single malt scotch.
I'll bet the minimum wage will increase to $6.00/hr. Frankly I think I've only ever met one person in the city making min. wage and she was a waitress so she got tips too, in rural areas its a bit different I suppose, but here I don't think a min. wage increase is a big thing. Its disgustingly simple in this province to get a job paying over $15/hr anyways.

That was sarcasm.
Man, tellme how an adult could live on that, especially if they have no education, or even look at how people treat disabled people. how many people with disabilities are going to make more than minimum wage, or if they do, not much above. This whole system needs a SERIOUS overhaul.
Personally, I couldn't really live on 7 bucks an hour, even with my wife working. If I found a way to live without eating, maybe, just maybe I could save enough to buy a postage stamp before I died in the gutter where my cardboard house was blown to the night before.

I'm not against raising it, but people forget that there are perfectly healthy and capable adults out there who abuse the system by whining about their job while making minimum wage. In addition, would a teenager get the same amount of hours after the raise? I'm willing to bet they will get a hours reduction.
That would be the case if they were making the minimum wage. Assuming someone works an 8hr. day, thats only about $8.00 a day more to keep that person around, I don't think it'll harm business too much. Especially taking into account the propserity and growth of our province.

If they want quality people where they runa business, they should pay for quality work. I think alot of managers are too high up on the pot to look down at the bottom of the pile and actually see what the worker does. Myself, I go right out in the warehouse and work with them, Dressed up in my fines with my tie on and my suit coat. I don't care if i get dirty, and the guys and girls I work with like to see the fact I am willing to get out there and get dirty with them. I'm not a typical manager tho. I like to keep them all as happy as I possibly can.

I am actually a Supervisor/Manager. When I am in Edmonton, I am a supervisor of the Edmonton Facility. When I am out of town, I actually have 5 Warehouse depots I Manage.
Best job I ever had, best people I've ever worked with, and the hardest challenges I've ever overcome in a business sense.
