I'm just curious, if I had a way of getting right hand drive CRX's, Skylines, MR2's, etc, with options like Glass roof, not sunroof, and VERY lightly moded up, about 15 years old with about 10000 kms, would many people be interested?
EMAIL me if yer seriously interested... I can't give much information on this, but let's just say it's totally legal for Canada, and can start happening by the beginning of summer.

Like I said, I'm just feeling out the market. I got a good line on good cars, VERY low KM's, but not really modded out. Just an intake and exhaust on about 1/2 of them. If my calculations are right, I can start bringing them in to Canada and get them inspected and certified and whatever and sell them for pretty cheap. I'm not sure of ALL the details yet, as I am still investigating, but so far it looks legitimate.
what did i tell you foolish mortals...
i seen one on my way home for the first time today. have no idea what car it was. possibly a toyota celica.

Look out for 180sx, MR-2s, skylines, RX-7s, 300ZXs and a lot more.
Blue-Wolf - There are a lot of people in Edmonton who import cars. Off hand I know of 6 people who have and are still importing them. You have to find your handle before you jump headfirst into it.

I think it was the darker red, which I presume is raspberry. The guy didn't seem to keep it very clean and usually has a lot of stuff piled into it it would seem. As for the front end I -believe- was S13 (haven't seen it in about 2months now, been downtown less). Had a large diameter exhaust too if I'm not mistaken, I wonder what kind of mods he was running.
Depends which one you're referring to. Dark red without flip-up headlights he had just the standard intake/exhaust/BOV. He bought that one for it's look(a sil-80) and sold it. He drives another one that's similar but it's his winter beater. That guy has and had some fast cars.

I didn't want to start going forward with this if there were many people already doing it. No point in sitting on the merchandise. I may pick a nice skyline for myself tho.
They have MUCH potential.
Mm, SR20 imports are pretty cheap, find a local 240SX and swap it old-school style...
I wouldn't want to try my hand at a 400HP RX-7 not only are those things getting more and more rare (esp. the engines which people seem v. adept at blowing..) the maintenance on those things can be daunting, esp. w. heat issues, the odd apex seal blowing and scarcity of parts.

It's all about cheap and affordable performance. For roughly $6-10K you can have a properly built 300-400HP RX-7 or 180SX. Try to find that around here, most people don't know what they are doing or they cheap out. Out of the cars I have seen they had upgraded turbos, downpipes, injectors, headgasket, intercoolers, ECUs, etc(and that's not looking on the inside). If you think a SR20DET swap is better, price it out. And Blue-Wolf that's your handle.

I think the buyout is around $3200. $2000 to ship to Edmonton(Owner->broker->vancouver->edmonton). So that kind of car for under $6000.

This is being done on a large scale by the guys at www.importconcern.ca .. you can find lots of information on their site and forums. There are quite a few RHD cars running around - I drove a '89 MR2 SC imported for around $3000 canadian.. fun car, but since it was a lower auction-grade it ended up drowning my buddy in repairs. He wasn't too happy about needing to reverse into drive-ins either, or making left turns across busy intersections.
