Damage Count

Ok here's a fun topic:

What damages have your Civic's sustained since you got them? How much have the repair costs been?

I am just curious, because I was looking at my girlfriend's Civic after a car wash - her car is still perfect - and I was remembering all the damage my car had seen.

Umm I got backed into and there is approximately $1000 worth of damage there, hopefully gonna get all that stuff figured out today, see when I get my new bumper.

I backed into a railing at the liqour store a few months back and my passenger side taillight is cracked, hope to get that fixed soon.

That's it for now, oh and my cracked windshield but that's inevitable.

Well, here we go...

My Civic was new when I got it
2 mos. later some girl rear-ended me on whyte - her ins. was 400

I backed into a parking lot pillar at Kingsway - got it fixed with the above damage.

My friend was parking next to me @ work, he cut the turn too tight, and hit the edge of the my rear bumper - also got it fixed with the above damage.

Passenger side door got keyed pretty good at Rum Jungle - $8 joe-boy paint repair.

My girlfriend rear-ended me and put a nice hole in the rear bumper! - That cost me $631.33!

I hit some ice and slid into a stop sign. Took that ***** down nicely. Got a big deep scrape in my front bumper (no cracks surprisingly) - Don't know exactly the repair bill for that one: It got repaired when I got my kit painted and installed.

As a 2001 Civic coupe, there was the usual strut problems too - they relpaced those for me @ the dealership. Free!

My new car has seen its fair share of hell so far too:

When I picked up my car, there was a scratch on the side skirt, and acura paid for my repair bill a few weeks later.

The driver's door had a big dent on the inside edge of the door (opposite of the hinge). Acura swore that I did it, I swore they did it. Guess who won that arguement? I had to pay 1/2 of the problem - 300.

Costco southside - I came back to my car and found a big damn cart resting comfortably against the driver's side front fender. Bid dent and scrape - The estimate was 300 - But that never got done because...

Some goddamn kid in his '82 cavalier (with his two day's worth of insurance, no kidding) failed to shoulder check @ 20 km/hr. He scraped & dented the driver's side door, front fender, and tore the bumper off, shredded up the front lip real nicely. Cracked the headlamp, broke the foglight, cracked the front grill, and broke BOTH wheel wells (can you figure that one out?). His insurance paid out 8Gs.
(The real irony here is that my rental for a few days was a Cavalier!)

Yikes!

hmm now my turn..

1. Was backing up to park in the grocery store downtown, you know how tight it is to park in one of the oriental stores. Scraped my rear bumper. Did nothing about it.

2. Backing out of my parking stall, didn't realize that the grease dump was emptied by the truck and they placed it more out than it was when i parked my car there. Damage to my rear left tail light. Still haven't done anything about it other than put some repair tape on it.

3. Got rear ended during the winter i first got my car. Grrr.. cost was like $500. so they repainted the whole buimper.. so that took care of #1 as well. but they took off otehr stuff but didn't compensate me for it grrr..

4. Backed up into parking rail. did nothing about it.

5. Backed into a snow back.. damn tight roads. paint came off on rear driver side bumper. Still haven't done anything about it.

6. Broken ground effects tube. by me driving over bumps, and honda breaking one and **** didn't replace my cost after i sent them a quote of the cost. grrr.

7. Pissed me off.. some fookkkks put a dent to my passenger door.. Grrr..

Hmm i guess i have a problem with backing my car up.. haha.. or am i cursed?

To avoid door dents I usually park on the other side of the parking lot with a median next to either the passenger or driver side door.

I been doing that ever since I got my first door dent, and it seems to be working out pretty good.

Or if I have to head to Chinatown (godforbid) I usually paralell park the car, it is easier to park and you avoid door dents all together.

Downtown blows too many freaken tight spots.. and me driving my truck grrr. Harder to find larger enough parking spots, and harder to park in the tight spots... boo i want my car back. Just 3 more months b4 i put insurance on it. Maybe not if I have to move, got to insure it for like one day then drive it to the new house and park it for another 3 months.

Rolled the Civic w. 5000km on it, was hit by a truck when he ran a stop sign damaged my front quarter panel, was hit from behind when some teen from Leduc slid into me with her POS 91 Cavalier. So 3 separate accidents in the span of just over a year and a half

Poor Civic...

Me now:
1. 2002 civic lx silver (2 months old) got into an accident resulting in it being wrote off. initial estimate of damage was over $13,000 by SGI then went to a shop and they found more so that was the end of that civic....it had a short life.

2. 2002 civic lx black (still own it) this one not as bad and i wasn't in the car. it was hit sitting on the street out front my house. (the lady did stop and come up to my house not like some a**holes do) damage was about $2500 on that.

thats it

hit and run to rear quarter panel, vandalized front bumper, and cracked front bumper(other side) when going around a corner too fast in winter and slid into a quite solid snowbank.
wow, phil, you've got the worst of luck out of all of us. imagine all the money we could of saved if all this bs didn't happen(speeding tickets dont help either)

Backed into a snowbank that didn't show on my rearview and ended up scraping a single gash on the underside of my plastic bumper.

Found door dings on my passenger side, looked at the car next to me.. yup.. matching paint.. yup.. missing paint for his door... that is I keyed him for that. Found another door ding.. no suspects.. haha.

Had my civic absolutely trashed outside of a club a few months back.
Hood was trampled, side was kicked in and it was keyed all over.
Ran me a little over 3 grand. That's about it, I also picked up a new crack in my windshield last week.

I stopped at a gas station during a sandstorm in Layton, UT., and while opening my door, the wind blew it violently out of my grasp, and the door slammed into the cement pillar near the gas pumps. It was freakin' loud! I slowly got out, fearing the worst, but to my surprise, there was just a slight vertical depression in the door about 7-8 inches long, barely visible. The door handle survived the impact. I was certain that it was cracked or something, but it survived.
