Yay!!! Konis delivered yesterday! Now I don't have to cringe over every potholed, crappy-*** railroad crossing in the 'bus. Have any of you had them installed around town or even DIY??? Gonna try SKS but wondered what my options are cuz' I'm sure they'll charge boku $$$$.

Man, I wouldn't know the first thing about how to install them myself. I've seen the DIY on here and it's looks way too complicated for me! That's why I was askin' about a place that could do it 'round herrre.
what knid of instructions did they give you with them? i mean i dropped my car myself and it wasn't that hard without instructions. so with instructions it really should not be that bad. in theary. i wouldn't mind taking a wack at it if there not that bad.

well the hardest part about koni's is the fact that you need to integrate part of the oem shock into the new koni. it requires cutting and gay crap like that. but i'm sure they have instructions. plus, the DIY instructions looks pretty comprehensive.
I'd say if you're not gonna DIY, go to SKS. Passen is too high and other places are questionable. I think if we got together we could do the Koni install. Its just a matter of cutting off about 1.5-2 inches of the front strut to re-use the housing.

A.) a sheltered place to work (too cold out now)
B.) the proper equipment
C.) an inkling of what to do
I don't have a garage and I have a limited supply of tools. Not even jack stands. So if anyone wants to give it a go, I'll buy food and/or beer as compensation.

BTW: Have any of you got Konis on yet? Don't really wanna be the guinea pig. And wouldn't mind having the perches welded too. Good call Reytito! I can be such a complicated bastard when it comes to my ride.

Well, I made an appt. at SKS to take the ride in Saturday to do the Koni install. They said $195. Just as I thought. I just hope they can get it done by Sunday for the meet!

I had Koni struts on my old coupe. It cost me $150 installed here in Cincy. Plus I remember reading somewhere that you don not want to weld the perches on. Cause the heat from the torch will fu(k up the struts. Thats what I remember reading.

Thats the topic about someone that had the perches break on them. Read over that. It will explain why they break and what to do. Also, do you have drop springs or coilovers?

"As for welding the perch on (I saw the thread on 7thgencivic), PLEASE don't do that. Welding on a shock, any shock, is not a good thing. At the very least, the heat needed to weld on the body will not do the seals or the oil of the shock any good. That's not to mention that the shock, at least with the 8041 series, is gas charged and is under pressure. We never weld on a shock body unless the shock has been taken completely apart."
