CF interior pieces!
CF interior pieces!
Who here would like to get some real carbon fiber parts wrapped for your car? For example the upper console, lower console (middle part), pillars,... basically anything you want.
If there is enough interest I will have my business (carbonworks) become a sponsor.
Right now we are prototyping stuff for the mr2 and celica.
Here are some pics
The engine panel for the mr2 spyder is full replacement along with the door insert. The arm rest and the celica rear seat delete are a wrap job. (The rear seat delete is lighter that the seats so it saves weight and looks good aswell.
The vac bag system has some bride side brackets and celica hvac in it.
(Those parts are not cleared so thats why they look alittle hazy.)

SO WHOS INTERESTED?!!

Re: CF interior pieces!
Here are the gb prices I have came up with (all parts come cleared)
upper console -100 plus shipping
a pillars (no gauge pods) 90 plus shipping
b pillars 100 plus shipping
c pillars 120 plus shipping
lower top of console 200 plus shipping (it is 3 or 4 pieces I believe, correct me if im wrong)
Yes you will have to send me yours or buy a spare and send it. What center console are you refering to? The upper radio surround? or the top of the lower?

I was talking about where my shift **** goes...
the whole thing that goes throught the middle of my car...
where the cup holders are.

Re: CF interior pieces!
If comes in 3 pieces. The part by the 12volt plug, cup holder fold down andthe part around the shifter. You can remove those off the console itself and send them. That way you will still have the console itself in the car and it wont look too naked.
Re: CF interior pieces!
what if i were to take out my console, door panels, center piece of the dash cover (not the radio and a/c controls piece)? what am I looking at price-wise for carbon wrapping? I don't want the main section of the dash wrapped because of the glare and I do still enjoy driving the car...

Right now I would just like to do a few accent pieces like I have listed above. Im pretty busy prototyping parts for the mr2 spyder and celica, so I dont have time for huge pieces b/c of those projects. I can however do those pieces I listed above plus other pieces (smaller than the dash and door panels lol) Im trying to keep tur aroud time down and just cover my *** and not get in over my head to keep everyone happy.

Re: CF interior pieces!
Now just to make sure that we under stand. When you say "wrapped" you mean that you will overlay the oem parts. This is a permanent modification to the OEM piece. Correct?
What if we wanted you to wax and PVA the piece then do the layup and release the Carbon from the ABS plastic piece? That way if we want to go back to stock we can.
Also where are you located? I am intersted in getting my roof laidup. I am going to be purchasing a trunk lid in the near future and want the car to flow. Would you even be intersted in some thing like this?

Yes it is basically a permanent mod to that piece. When you say spray pva and pop a duplicate off the original part there are a few problems with that.
The part will too big b/c your taking a mold of the top. Inorder for it to be the same size the mold will needed to be taken from the back (female mold) Usually they are done with a special gel coat and resin Or silicon then pva is sprayed and the part is popped off the mold producig a exact replica so fit is perfect. Also if a mold is take from the top there will be no tabs and mounting locations.
Full replacements can be made but require alot of prep inorder work. Regular carbon fiber is not used. Something called preprenated carbon is used and to make the part durable 7-9 layers are used. Resin is injected and excess is removed through a drain tube then the part is baked. This is the kind of part you see used on f1 or indy cars.
My suggestion is if you want to go back to stock then trade the cf pieces for that stock part plus cash.
Also Im located in orlando fl on the weekends and jacksonville in the week
Re: CF interior pieces!
500 for each door panel and console? that's a bit steep...oh well, guess i'll put that money into the turbo project.
no offense intended, but i'm not building a show car. i still drive my civic

Re: CF interior pieces!
so you have to buy 4 yards (about 35 average a yard) Then the high quality resin I use is about 115 a gallon and you will need close to a gallon for both. Then all the labor. Those door panels would take about 20hrs of labor put in just sanding not to mention the time just sittig in the vac system. So before you knock my prices go do some research...
