For the brake line made of stainless, the idea behind stainless line is that they won't expand like nomral line. The normal line in a braking system expend a tiny little bit when you hit your brakes, but if every inch of every line expends a little tiny bit, that alot of lit tiny bits and you end up with small amount of "mush" feeling that you won't have with the stainless.

I used stainless on my '94 civic, and to be honest I only noticed the difference on the track, the normal roads around me are not good enoguh to drive that car to the extreme that I saw a difference. But was also using Willowood big brake kit and the car had 4 wheel disk brake (yes you could get a '94 civic with 4 wheel disk brake from the factory, why can't we do it today?) anyway, I had more breaking power than I ever needed (literally, the tires locked up so easy). So I guess I don't like them, but that set up was way wrong and to extreme, so maybe it was just a bad experience that I had.

thanx for the info.......................

and....is it possible that the stretching noise comes from the brake line?

I don't think the the line it's self would make noise. But it is a good possibility that the sound may be a valve or loose bolt somewhere in the brake line

What I really ment is that there is a loose connection somewhere, bolts and valve where just things I guessed at. If you give me a more clear description of what the problem is, maybe I can take some shots at what it might be.

thanx for ur help, man..

well, the problem is that....in idle conditin (car not moving)....if i press the brake pedal down.....and push it a bit harder.....then there's this noise like, "ccrrkkkkkkk" coming from the rear brake......

also, if i pull the hand brake up....and try to push the brake pedal down.....u need less effort (pushing) on the brake pedal to make that stretching noise out.....

luckily, there is no noises coming while im driving....hehe

Ahhhhh..... I know what you're talking about, my car does it too. I notice it more if I use the parking break on an incline.

Here's what I figure out, it tore everything apart and looked around backthere, didn't see anything wrong, replaced the springs (that's what I thought it was); and it still made that noise. So my conclusion is that Honda has some rather stiff, noisy springs backthere for the tension in the brake pads. I'm not sure if it the springs inside or simply the pads and drum simply "talking." Talking is a term for when metals make sounds because of stress, think of a big metal bridge when the wind blows or any other large metal structure under stress, it's actually normal, disturbing but normal.

My overall take on it that the back brakes are only suppose to take care of 20% of the overall stopping power. If your bake brakes become more powerful than your front brake, your car spins if you lock up. So as long as the back is locking I usually don't worry about it. In the case of the creeking backbrakes, I would worry about unless you hear it as you are moving. The stress "talk" will only apply if you are not moving. If you really want to sleep better at night, you can change the springs backthere, but don't let it bother you to much. Hope this helps, even though I don't really know how to get rid of it!

yo!

that seriously helps.....it's really nice to know that other people also got the same experience..

well, i changed my brake pad (which i regret so much)....but the noises still there....so....i figured it out that......i won't spend anymore money on this...since it's gonna rip of my pocket if i try to fix it......and it might not even fix it..

so, i guess......i'll just keep adjusting myself to the noises..

anyway, advance auto parts checked my front brake.......i start driving my car from 24K...right now it's 32K....it's an 02 civic.....and...the front pad is 80% worn.....

do you guys think it's normal??

well, i did abuse my front pad (brake w/o engine brake)....since i wanna change em with brembo blank and aem nissin pad...hehehehehhe

Seems kinda fast to me, but not to fast... if that makes sence? I wouldn't worry about it after 32K, I've killed many break pads in far less time. As for engine braking and down shifting I don't do it either. Downshifting to slow your self down wares on your clutch, if you don't down shift you ware your brake pads out faster, and sence brake pads are cheaper than clutchs I don't engine brake unless I really have to stop fast or the weather is bad out.

Dapper can only hope to improve
^^ hey i HAD that noise, plus a squeeking when i took my foot off the brake... i did two things...
tightened the e-brake cable, i think theres a diy for it .
second look at the diagram.. see number.. 17/24 that little sprocket thats part of the spring assembly right, it tentions the whole thing, right? . i made it as SNUG as possible...
it got rid of everything with those two steps.
i def think that will solve those noise issues in both ur cars.

oh and btw... honda oem pads suck.. goto pepboys and get prostop pads. they're extremly long lasting... Im boosted and I havent changed the pads in 8 months. i still i have 50% pad left atleast and i drive and BRAKE hard. why abuse the tranny downshifting .

nicee...thanxx..

hm, e-brake cable....that's possible..

however, about the star adjuster (17-24), u can't really tighen it up that much...cos it if u adjust it wrongly....it'll impend the movement of ur rear wheels....

do u remember about the adjusment of rear brake? the one that u gotta rotate the drums such that it should rotate freely about 1 1/2 to 2 times rotation?
