Engine swap: How to attach hoist to Engine?
Engine swap: How to attach hoist to Engine?
I've done lots of research but I can't seem to find some official and concrete info on how exactly should one proceed to remove the engine from the car.
My car is a Honda Civic 2004 DX Manual.
Engine: D17A1
I know the engine can be removed from the top.
I got the engine hoist, the new engine is coming very soon, I'm almost ready but I'm still stuck at the critical part where you remove the engine.
I've got the idea of bolting a chain at two locations on the engine but I'm not sure if they are good engine hoist points.
There's one hole where a bolt might fit at the back of the engine block near the timing belt and the other one is right next to the EGR valve.
The thing is, I don't know if these holes and the bolts that go in are strong enough to withstand the weight of the engine and the transmission at the same time.
I think a picture can tell more about what I'm trying to say.
In the picture, it seems to be an automatic transmission by the size of it (quite small) and I assume it weighs less.
There are many ways to lift an engine out of a car and it's kinda confusing me right now. Even if the method I intend on using is good, still not sure what kind of bolt I should get and where to get them, does Honda sell them?
Thanks
Useful and relevant replies would be very appreciated since I'm about to do this job very soon.

But that didn't help too much.
Still don't know how to attach the chain to the engine.
I'm just afraid the bolts will snap when I lift the engine out of the car,
that is if I can find these bolts.
