has anyone changed to carbs on the d17?
has anyone changed to carbs on the d17?
so i was thinking it would be cheaper and ez to tune if you took out the fuel injection and went to carbs with a turbo. has anyone heard of people doing this? and what would be needed? other than the obvious. carbs, turbo and plumbing...

You could build a weird custom set-up, but it's completely pointless and a waste of money since fuel injection can be tuned better.

im not sure if you have ever looked under your hood but you d17 motor is designed to work with fuel injection there is a reason nobody uses carburetors anymore. And key word on your original post CHEAPER. If your looking to save money then dont F**K with your car. But to answer your question as to what would be needed a completely new fuel system to start as you would be going to a mechanical fuel supply. Just go ahead and throw away your ecu and also plan on getting rid of your motor for an early 80's motor. I hate to break it to ya bud but pretty much your entire car is controlled by your ecu which controls your fuel injection. not to mention your pistons, valves, vtec(controlled by FI ecu), crank, cams, block, head etc. are all designed to work with your injectors. So in other words D17 carb is impossible.
