K24a1 swap (Coming Soon)
Re: K24a1 swap (Coming Soon)
Why? If I'm wrong I have nice people like you to correct me.
As to the trans, I misspoke. AROUND HERE the only 6 speed available under $1000 has 170K. I would much rather spend another $500-1000 more for a trans with less than half the mileage but, you do what you want. Around here the 5 speeds ARE $400-600.

there you go, around 800-900 shipped or best offer for a 6 speed with 60k on it. I can find these all day long.
You need to search better and i hope you're not searching this lame civic site for answers or parts. this site went down the drain
If texas is selling trans for 1500-3500 (let me remind you that a whole K20a2 with tranny is around 3k) then texas business dealers are ripping you a new one.

Yeah, there's really no scene in north Tx. Houston has a scene but, that's like 5 hours away. Thx for the links.

Wow! and here i am content with my D17A2, while you going from K20 to K24...
Are you going to reinforce the K24 bottom? (idk if that is even necessary, actually...)

actually miata's are not really oversteer.
A good setup in them is neutral, you can understeer or oversteer just by how you work the throttle, even. They are pretty close to 50/50 weight deistribution (note how the rear tire is almost wiping your butt since driver is way in the back).
I own a sport hard-s suspension 01 miata (one of the most oversteering of them, actually, with lsd and chassis bracing...).
remeber also that they do not have gobs of power (like our D17...)

Na I am not going to reinforce the block. It really doesnt need it till I get to 400 whp. The real reason why I want the k24 is because of the torque on them.

My friend desperately wants an EP3 now. After coming here, I realize just how awesome this car can be, and showing him some stuff now he wants one even more
. Best of luck with the swap amigo.

I have 2 more weeks and I get to get my k24 finally so I can start my build. Gonna get it break it down, clean it, paint it, hone it, and thinking about porting and polishing the head.
If I remember it right isnt it 400 grit to hone the cylinders with.

Re: K24a1 swap (Coming Soon)
I have bout a week till I get my motor and I have been thinking bout some changes. I dont think I am going with a vtec killer setup. I think I am just going to go with a k24/k20. I am going to get the k24a1 and k20a2 head. I will be using the k20a2 oil pump, chain tensioner, chain guides. I will have probably use k24a2 pistons with the k24a1 rods. I will pick up a prb intake manifold use it as well. This still will be a great setup.
Re: K24a1 swap (Coming Soon)
Well I get my money this week and I am stoked. I am going to go pick up the block this weekend and while I am there I am going to do a compression test. Hopefully it comes out all right. I found someone that is going to sell me the k24a2 pistons and rods yesterday. They are in great shape just need to pick up some new piston rings for them. I may go this weekend to pick them up to, he is selling them for 130.
