Rep Power: 0 2003 Civic Automatic Turbo?
I have a 2003 Civic EX coupe that already has everything that could possibly be bolted on...CAI, Cat back exhaust, and headers. I am looking for more power though. A transmission swap will be way too expensive but a easy turbo kit off of ebay would be possible. They are around 500 to 1000 dollars.
Is this a good idea or bad? and if its a good idea what kit is should i go with? And are Performance Chips a easy power gain?
Thanks for answering in advance!

nah sorry man.. i also have an '03 auto and from what i've read and researched, it's a bad idea, especially if youre looking for an ebay turbo.
you're better off just running nitrous, and as long as you do it safely you'll be fine

bad idea. the factory trans can barely handle the 90whp from the engine without turbo.

turbo on auto tranny will work as long as you have a transmission cooler. there was a guy that was running like 170whp or something for quite a while with no problems. you need pcs xfc to get it to work properly tho.

i know everyone says stay away from e-bay turbos. but why? i mean if the turbo blows out from bad design won't you're moded ecu just take the new air fuel readings of the now none turbo system and let you drive "stock"? if so then you're only down $1000 plus shipping from e-bay, if it works then you save $5000 from buying namebrand. or am i way wrong and a broken turbo would f up you're timing so bad that the car wouldn't recover?

Ebay turbos will crap out very quickly, they are chinese garbage. I had one on my eclipse. Don't waste your money. You also have to buy fuel, pump injectors, ECU mod. The blown turbo could come apart and metal bits could eat up your engine. Plus you cannot run very much boost on stock internals anyway. I agree with tjg312, a good wet nitrous setup is a much better use of $1000 dollars. Save the turbo for if/when you rebuild your engine with forged internals.

Johnny Tran stole my S2000 that I had over $100K in mods.
Re: 2003 Civic Automatic Turbo?
Don't do it.If you want a turbo, get a real one like Greddy or something, but don't put it on that automatic.Gonna ruin your transmission.
