Swap or not

Ok well i have been reading the forums for the past couple of days and i have noticed that if you have a SI then you seem to be better off with swapping. Well as it may be I do have an Si. It is a 2002 and I have been looking at some engines and doners but I don't know what i should do. I would like to throw a B-18 into it but from what i read your better off with a K20. I just dunno what to do. I have a d17a2 in there right now. I don't know what to do, I am not terribly experienced with car work but i have a bunch of friends who are good with cars that want to help. Let me know what you figure should be done.

Thx

Re: Swap or not

you dont have an si if you have a d17a2. that motor come in the 01-05 ex. you could put in a turbo. which is around 4000 to do it right or you could do a k swap which is between 8 and 10 thousand. b series motors wont fit in our cars at least with out tons of modification and alot of money.

Re: Swap or not

Nope.. you will be looking for EX/LX parts from the U.S. Some parts matter whether it's EX or LX and some don't. A turbo kit doesn't matter. An exhaust or header is all you really have to worry about, those are pretty model specific.

And on a completely shameless plug, I'll be pulling my turbo kit off the middle of this month.

i have a turbo ex couple.everyhting is done right. i spent about 12g. you should k swap and then turbo it and push 35lbs daily with no problems. k24, k-pro, axles, tranny, mounts, linkage, clutch, looking at about 6500 for just that but ****. i know a guy with 330whp with stock k24. ran 10.9 1/4 mile ITB's, kpro. and a bangin tune.

there is no STOCK k24 that will push 330whp.

define your definition of stock. Sounds more like he has internal work, high compression etc etc.

Fully built bottom ends with a type S head, ppl are putting down roughly 250-275whp.

no way a stock k24 puts down 330whp without major work or it being boosted.
