Misfire

Before I list my problem I'll list what I have. 02 Civic LX running 9 PSI with a Garrett T25 turbo. I'm normally running 91/92 Octane depending on what gas station I go to. 2.25 IN exhaust. I have the AEM F/IC. It also is an automatic. I have no CELs on...well before the problem started. Basically story goes like this, drove to the gas station about a 10 minute drive from my house. I was doing normal driving, got on it once or twice but nothing insane. I get to the gas station obviously shut off my car fill it up with 92 Octane. I drove off back to my house and went to get on it, but everytime I went to WOT it'd basically go to about 3k-3.5k RPMs and start misfiring across all cyclinders. I thought it was just a fluke so I pulled over shut it off tried it again same result. I've cleared the misfire codes many times after the fact and still same result. I even dumped all my fuel and put fresh gas in it with the same result. I pulled apart both the ignition and fuel system checking fuel pressure and resistance for all the injectors and coil packs. Pulled the plugs and they are in good shape as well. Any ideas on what the **** happened would be appreciated.

Re: Misfire

I know but why is the question. There is no reason or obvious explanation for it to happen. It was running like a champ then one fill up and it goes to ****.

Re: Misfire

have you modified the MAP sensor at all? with a check valve or something? i was boosted at one time and the most common problem for me when it misfired was that the MAP sensor was either dirty or the filter element in there had fallen out. check that. if you used the FIC to fix the MAP/boost problem try changing the the voltage to the MAP sensor. if its not the map i would say check vtec wiring but you have an lx.

Re: Misfire

All of it was already configured and tuned so not sure why it would all of the sudden not be. I'll double check it tomorrow. Thanks for the idea. Anything helps at this point. I'm at a loss.

Re: Misfire

your running a piggy back it's possible that the ecu fought with it enough that you have to go back and reset everything again. the stock ecu is very stubborn when it comes to piggy backs

Re: Misfire

idk how the FIC works but maybe you can delete the tune off the FIC and then reupload it. thats how the emanage people did it i believe. d/c the battery wont do anything because im sure the FIC has its own battery to not lose the tunes. so if you have the software and a laptop you can rip the tune off the FIC, delete it then reupload it. i guess it wouldnt hurt to disconnect your battery afterwards either.

Talking Re: Misfire

ay bra...
I don't know if you fixed your problem or not, but i had the same stuff happen
to my 01 civic ex,
first i changed my crank sensor, then it was reading my TDC sensor was bad try changing out your TDC sensor... it's a bitch in the 7th gens but it seems like it's a common with em for some reason.. that should fix it
if not clean out your vtec selinoid screen. It could be clogged

just take it to autozone n run the codes on it man... then go from there
hope i helped some if not my bad

Re: Misfire

its a LX so no worries on the VTEC and I have a code reader. Its throwing a general misfire and misfire codes for cylinder 1,2,3,&4. Those are the only codes I'm throwing at the moment but before that I had no CELs on.

Re: Misfire

Have you tried pulling the ECU fuse and resetting it?
Just pull out the 15 amp fuse towards the right of the under hood panel. Its FI/ECU or something like that.

Make sure you haven't blown a fuse somewhere. Check on your map, make sure something has jacked up in the hardware itself. It shouldn't be a MAP problem, F/IC has one built in.

Re: Misfire

No blown fuses but I'll pull that fuse. You are correct it is the FI/ECU labeled fuse. It was completely random when it started acting up so who knows. I have to work all weekend so I'll try and get to it Monday. Keep the ideas coming...I appreciate all of them.

Re: Misfire

I'll give it a shot. I checked them though with the coilpack and plugs out of the car and had a buddy look for spark from all of them. It is only misfiring when I go to WOT. Worth a shot anyway though, thanks.

Re: Misfire

Are you using colder plugs? Try lowering the boost and see if the problem still occurs. Maybe even a retune for WOT won't hurt. If you have too much timing it may misfire at WOT. I had that problem with my stage 2 cam.

Re: Misfire

I had colder plugs but switched back to the normal plugs and it was tuned with them in it. I'll try it...like I said anything helps at this point. I won't be able to touch it until Mondaythough. Thanks bro.
