general turbo help/exhaust.
general turbo help/exhaust.
okay so in light of recent advice, I have decided not to swap my engine for a k20/k24; instead I plan on simply(used lightly) adding a complete turbo kit. I am BEYOND confused about which kits to get, as I am not simply adding the tubro itself, I plan on getting the whole 9( BoV intercooler exhaust system, you know). I also know that adding a turbo kit will mean wider piping, however it seems like I cant find a system that will fit(03 civic sport) online, maybe i'm just simple. either way im open to suggestions and will probably just pull a sheep and get whatever people seem to like the most, granted that it checks out by my mechanic. So please let me know exactly what i'll need to get to get a turbo kit mounted(keeping in mind that I a am a daily driver, so a drag racing only kit wont float.)

Re: general turbo help/exhaust.
You need to search. A lot. Buy or check out Corky Bell's "Maximum Boost" from your library.
Then go read the FAQs in Forced Induction section.
Then read this:
http://www.beesandgoats.com/boostfaq/g2icturbo.html
Then go and look around the F/I section some more.
Then go look at the only reputable retailer who sells a turbo kit for our car. www.dezod.com

I swear I'm on my way to my library, but i was curious and checked that site out. I believe I have found a viable kit, with addons of course, but it seems that I am stupid, A civic sport is a ex correct?(insert sigh and flame here*) then would this kit work or not? keeping in mind it needs a fuel system and an engine management system.

at the bottom it has selected a fuel system/engine management but my gut tells me that they might be "lower end" parts. however im not even sure that the turbo kit itself is high end.
like I said, all i know is Nvidia make video cards, intel make processors and vipers are fast(dont shoot me) but i AM getting that book and doing as much reading as my eyes can take at the moment, so thanks and let me know about that kit, the other two kits on that site are for aftermarket engines right? because with the fuel system and and engine management, the cost difference is minimal. maybe 4-5 hundred bucks. anyways let me know. I appreciate it.

Re: general turbo help/exhaust.
That is not a lower end kit at all. I'm running an earlier version of that very same manifold, and it's quality kit. Seriously, for a kit, Paul sells the best one out there on the market. Give him a ring and talk to him about it.
Once you strap the turbo on, you will need to give more fuel (bigger injectors) and you will need to tell the car when to give it more fuel and how to interpret the boost it is seeing (engine management).
The $3K dezod kit is just the physical bits for the turbo and they are quality. Tial BOV and Tial WG, FMIC, IC piping, manifold and turbo - much better than anything out there.
I run the FMIC, IC piping, same WG and BOV, older version of the mani, and I upgraded the turbo. You can't go wrong with this kit. It's just a matter of figuring out if you want to go with a standalone (k-pro or AEM EMS) or piggyback system for engine management.

Re: general turbo help/exhaust.
wouldn't it just be easier and cheaper to buy the parts separate? and I dont want to buy an air freshener unless im sure it'll fit around my miror. I have a 2003 civic sport( COULD YOU POSSIBLY TELL ME IF THAT IS A DX OR EX, or whatever!?!) and i just pounded through that g2icturbo article, I must say it has helped slightly, I know now know what parts im going to have to use and what short comings I will probably run into, still though, cheaper to buy the kit or the parts separately? keep in mind I'm in Canada and the prices will no doubt be higher, also I will be leaving for the military soon so my car will stay parked in a shop to await parts when they are sent, labor is free.
thanks for your help!

Re: general turbo help/exhaust.
nah it just says honda on it. and I just popped the hood for an eyeball worth, it looks like im going to have to re-route the battery if i wanted to put a new air filter/exhaust system in too, which I would also like to do, probably before the turbo kit itself, but who knows.
would it be cheaper to buy the parts separate rather than a large kit?

Re: general turbo help/exhaust.
we were talking about this kit, but i dont know too many reputable dealers. and I would like to get new parts, unless its not really that big of a deal.

and this IS teh complete kit right? besides a new exhaust system, I would need nothing else? ESSENTIALLY. I just want to use a turbo civic for day to day driving, and spanking a friends Vdub. to be honest.
