Rotrex superchargers are pretty sweet. Not so much for the bit of extra power they make due to the increased efficiency, but for what they are, a rotrex supercharger.
If money was not an issue when it came time to supercharge the K I would go with a rotrex and have a custom hood made with a functional hood scoop to feed the top mount intercooler (or is it an aftercooler).
Honestly though for the difference in price from a jackson. I am not sure that it is worth it.
I think a setup like this would be neat

That setup looks nice..But i would prefer the intercooler to be a front mount..For some reason just seeing an intrcooler in the bumper looks sick...My friend has a rotrex hes about to put on his car but im gonna see if i can fit it on my car..

Yeah we went round and round about this a while ago. The Rotrex is probably the easiest one to fit, but you still need to have a custom bracket machined for it. I created a thread about this a couple months ago. Let me see if I can find it.

Re: Rotrex Supercharger?
this is definantly a cool idea. But how much power would it really put out??? And what are the advantages of this vs a turbo? Also heres an even crazier idea could some crazy person run both this and a turbo??? I know the engine would prolly blow up or something cool like that. How much pressure could our little d17 handle?????

the most i would run on a d17 with stock internals is like 6 or 7 pounds since our intake manifolds are plastic..thats just me though

Page works fine.....
There are bennies and drawbacks to both setups. Turbos are more efficient. Since they are using 'free' energy - the exhaust - to create boost, every bit of HP they make goes to the crank and out to the wheels. The drawback with a turbo is a little bit of lag (non-existent really in a properly sized ball-bearing turbo) and the intense heat generated and running oil and coolant lines all over your bay.
A supercharger is less efficient as the engine had to spend power (via the parasitic drag of the SC pulley) to make power. This can be anywhere from 20-40% depending on the blower. However, SCs don't run hot lot turbos do, power is there as soon as you hit the pedal no matter what speed you're at, and you don't have as many fluid lines to deal with.
Check homemadeturbo.com as there are a couple folks there who have superchargers feeding big turbos.

hey speedfoos ive seen that video before..Im not sure if it will fit or not cause if you look at the header on the type R it looks like it moves to the left alittle bit.Unlike ours which just goes straight down

For me I am thinking of supercharging because with the K I would run around 8lbs and would be making 280-300 whp (not that anymore would be less reliable with the K, but traction would be a real problem with more than 8lbs). A supercharger would also work better and be WAY more reliable for what I do with my car (autox and road race).
Honestly though I am not sure how well a supercharger would work with a D17, my guess is at 8lbs you would see around 150-175whp max. It would be neat though.

150-175 is alot better then what the car comes with lol...I mean i have other stuff done to my engine that would give me some power..I have the unorthodox pulley set, bigger header, fidanza flywheel,Full exhaust system..Plus the car doesnt way that much either so thats a plus

150-175 would make it a bit more fun. You would see a good bit more with a turbo though. I just know how 200 whp feels in my car with 100lbs shaved from the stock EM2 weight, even with the heavier engine. It feels fast at first, but after driving you buddies 300whp/400trq race ready STI, you want more.

Someone over at clubcivic is working on getting the jackson racing supercharger to work. He has the charger, but is just starting. Heres the thread: http://www.clubcivic.com/board/showthread.php?t=95203

Autoblog
VW had a system like what was described a few posts back, a supercharger and a turbo driving the same engine... They had it on a 1.4L 4-cylinder in the Golf GT TSI giving off 140 hp and 184 lb-ft. The system used a lot of complicated electronic clutches that would be very difficult to replicate in another car without the corporate backing. With the clutch on the supercharger, the negative effects of each type of forced induction were effectively eliminated. Supercharger for low RPMs under acceleration, and turbo for higher RPMs and cruising.

http://www.kraftwerksusa.com/ is the website. Jackson Racing now uses rotrex superchargers as well.

acually, i plan to run a rotrex on my d17. the rotrex sc is the best form of power you can use! true, exhaust power is free, but creates LOTS OF HEAT. also, big power is more LAG. turbo lag is the gayest thing ever! [in my opinion ofcorse ] the rotrex uses a planetary gear set, like a automatic transmission. it creates big power, as much as you want, and a smooth, linner flow. to achive this with a turbo, you need a variable vain design, (ie, VW 2.0 TSI, acura RDX) and those turbo's run $2000+ in price, and are flawed design because of the HEAT created by the turbo destroys the veriable vains over a shorter period of time. rotrex sc will last for a long *** time!!!
(i worked for both VW and acura, and have seen multiple burn victums from both companies)
rotrex used to have good information on their website, but they have become more secretive and you have to go through distrubtors for information. i'll see if i can find this info because i would like to see more rotrex rather than turbo.
i also seen an electric sc yesterday on something about the detroit auto show. the company claims it pushes 2.2 kW, but i have not found a conversion for bar or psi. it also looks like it mounts on the pully system, so i don't know what the electric part is...
