D17 on boost OVER HEATING AGAIN, PLEASE HELP !!!!!
ok every must hear this all the time but whaever am a girl and i dont really know to much.
i have a 2003 honda civic (EM)
it has been on boost for 3 years
only problem it has its over heating
MY car was over heating prior and i had changed everything possible it stop over heating then i had changed my motor and redid everything again.
stuff i changed:
head gasket to a cosmetic gasket
got head cleaned
placed a block gaurd
changed radiator
changed thermastat
changed hoses
after all of this i thought my problem had been solved but when i drive for like 40 min straight (to work) the temp starts going up (80mph). if i slow down it goes down. if i drive with the ac on the temp goes up but i try to open the radiator it does not over flow. am starting to think its my computer thats mest up. i cant take it no more. living in florida is to hot not to have ac and especailly to drive and look at the temp gauge while you drive.
Please help
Thanks in Advance
email me if anything thanks

How is it tuned?
Just because you blew it and changed it doesnt stop it from blowing again.
I also hope you measured the deck of the head and the block, and used new head bolts or switched to ARP studs the first time. Stock head bolts are one time use only "stretch bolts".
You can try putting an after market water temp gauge in to see if its consistent, you can also try pressure checking the system, and all that crap.
The block guard certainly wont help the cooling situation as it blocks water flow.

its the block gaurd... it limits the amount of coolant to get to ur head. an easy fix is to take it out and make the holes larger for the coolant to flow through. heres an example of someone doin this. http://https://www.civicforums.com/f...july-06-a.html

if everything was installed correctly (head and block flat, headgasket correct and new headstuds) then it will most likely be the blockguard. as supafil25 said the holes in the blockguard restrict coolant flow because the holes are too small. drill more holes that match up with the headgasket and you should be good.

It can also be a pocket of air behind the thermostat. Happened to me twice when changing heads...

^^ if thats the case you need to bleed out your cooling system. turn on the engine with the heater on full blast with the radiator cap OFF. let all the air bubbles come out. max sure your coolant resovoir is between min and max. i did this for about 30 minutes just to be sure. if your temp needle gets all the way to the H and you dont hear the coolant boiling, it would probably be an air pocket, because if your coolant temp was really at the H then the coolant should be boiling. when you are done refill the radiator to its maximum level (right at the brim so you can see the coolant from the radiators neck) and see if it overheats. if it still overheats the best bet is the block guard is retricting flow.

Wait a minute. Are you running a stock 75mm bore? If so, I was 99% certain that you can only get Cometic HGs in 76mm bore and up. They don't make a 75mm HG to fit stock-bore D17 engine. Am I right here folks? If so, that may be the cause of your overheating. Unless you you got them to make a custom HG on the stock bore.
