turbo
Im seriously looking into turboing my car .. i drive an 02 1.7eL and i want speed. Im selling my car in 2-3 yrs, so i want to enjoy it... i've already done body work and such now i want performance. I was initially thinking of k20 .. but then i thought why not turbo, considerring i can get the same hp, cuz i don't plan on modding my k20 considerring i won't have a penny left .. its either k20 or turbo. I also wanted to turbo for the excitement and the BOOST for torque. a k20 in toronto would run u about 6500 out the door ... and i thought a turbo would run me 3-4. After researching, i realized the kit for our d17s is 4gs alone, minus the fuel management (srt injectors) or the comupter (greddy or w/e) which would run another 1000 ... so basically 5gs just for parts -- then u have to install and tune .. which is another 500 so ur looking to spend 5500-6000 for a good reliable setup. this is rediculously expensive in my opionion considerring the fact that i thought turbo would cost 3-4gs out the door.. how much did u guys out there pay for ur setups .. and what input do u have .. iPlease help me guys this is a big decision and i want ur helps.. and money is a big issue as well .. i don't have 6gs so i can't even afford a swap, hense choosing the turbo route, but i feel like they are both in the same ball park $$$ ????? any help ? I also wanna know things like how reliable is turbo for the d17, im not looking for mad hp .. ill be MORE THAN happy with 200. i have this car for 2-3 more yrs so i just wanna enjoy it. how are all ur setups treating u guys? how much u guys spend? any regrets .. should i go thru with this? I need ur supports and input ! !

Re: turbo
I'm at just over $6500. Check my build thread and shopping list in my sig. You can do it for cheaper, but you get what you pay for. No regrets yet, but I'm still installing it and just taking a break to find a vacuum line diagram.
