Triiiiiiick new BOV. No welding required, no flanges either
We became a dealer for these guys around December last year. We ordered some pieces and decided to crack one the BOVs open, and man it is a trick little piece. No flanges, no welding. Slide the BOV over the OD of the pipe (the BOV comes in 2, 2.25, 2.5 and 3"), mark the clamp spots, countersink the spots where they are, slide the valve in place, tighten the screws and attach vac line. Nice little piece made by a company called Steed Speed & HiVolume.

Yes!! You got the Steed Speed ones in finally! I saw those last year and really liked them. What's your pricing going to look like Paul?
Re: Triiiiiiick new BOV. No welding required, no flanges either
it's upside down in the first pic, but seems like a novel idea. i don't quite get the countersinking part though.
price/availability?

so this is used in place of say, a coupling, right? placement similar to the AEM bypass valve?

Since when do BOVs need couplers? They almost all have a flange arrangement, which needs to be welded in place like the HKS, TiAL, Blitz, GReddy etc.....
This one seals in place with rubber o-rings and the little clamp screws.

No, I'm asking if its used in place of a pipe coupling (kinda like how the AEM bypass valve is used)..

Right, so Im guessing it's like an "in-line" Blow off valve right? This is interesting. but is really nice, if no welding is required!
Re: Triiiiiiick new BOV. No welding required, no flanges either
any of you guys check out the 3d animation on the steed speed website? it slides back and forth when the throttle closes releasing pressure. Looks cool, but i can see it sticking open if some dirt gets in the slide piece....

I thought it had a separate piston inside the ring that moved, not the whole ring.

^^^ if anyone used it and it went bad. you will hope it got stuck open. it is a trick part, but the only way i would buy it if it had like a sceen over it to protect it from stuff getting in. maybe you should tell them to put a screen on it or something.

its not a matter of keeping stuff out, its a matter that the sliding surface is on the exterior surface, not on the inside of the valve. Any crud that gets on that surface is liable to be run over by the thing sliding back and forth, if its big enough, it can jam the valve.

Well, I don't know about you guys but I don't open my hood and throw handfuls of dirt and rocks in the engine bay, so I'm not worried about this blow off valve being a problem.
In my opinion, which I am entitled to, if you have something under your hood that can jam that thing open or closed, then you need to spend a little more time making sure that your engine bay is clean and less time worrying about what that dirt is going to do to your car parts.

^^^eyger have you looked under your hood lately but all it takes is some dirt one time to find its way buy the opening.
also so if you looked in the engine bay there is dirt in on top of your intake. hmmm how did dirt find its way there.
here goes one more example. have you ever clean your house and find dirt all over how did that get there.
in all dirt can find it way into the opening and do some damage to the bov and make it stick open and closed.

I guess I'm just not worried about it. I keep my car pretty clean...
