Re: clutch problem
yikes. I'd stop driving it right away. No1 wants to see this turn into one of thoes threads that starts off with an engine problem, and then ends with a busted motor.

Re: clutch problem
ok but im sure its a tranny problem or maybe a clutch ..can that have that much effect on the motor...i hope not, i think tomorrow im takin to a tranny place to get it looked at and possible re built...so does anyone know what the problem might be?
Re: clutch problem
Sounds like you are correct.
Transmission is cooked, and your syncros are probably done as well because you are skipping gears too often. And probably clutch is worn out.
But it also sounds like a problem I've read on k20a.org where if you do not have the proper grounds on your transmission block, engine etc. your shifts will be messed up.

Re: clutch problem
you might be better off getting a another transmission altogether. Are you running KPRO? If so, go with an 05-06 Tranny.

Re: clutch problem
the squeal sounds like a throw out bearing. and the reason its dying when you go into gear could be the clutch never disengages when you mash the clutch so youre basically putting it into gear without pushing the clutch and its dying. transmissions are very delicate creatures. i would take it to a very reputable shop before i drove it anywhere else. keep in mind, transmission shops are the highest rip off shops of any other area of a vehicle.

Re: clutch problem
After reading of what's been said, I can tell the following:
Funny smell and squiling noice when clutch pedal pressed down?
As well as you cant move in to a gear - these all symptoms of worn out clutch.
Skiping gears wont make any damage to clutch ot transmission.
If you had issue with tranny prior clutch, then definately check the traany while changing clutch.
I'd also check for worn bushings or cable ajustments in the shiter's assembley after you fix your clutch.
I hope it helps.

Re: clutch problem
Its the throwout bearing. More than likely the clutch was out of adjustment the fork was pressing on the throwout bearing, this makes the throwout bearing constantly work. Ill will eventually seize, stall the car at low speeds and shortly after it will wreak havok on your whole drivetrain if it hasnt already. The smoke you may be seeing is probably the grease in the bearing cooking or the clutch simply making contact with the pressure plate even with the pedal pushed in. Gears not properly engaging and squealing can definetly be other symptoms of this. I saw the aftermath of this happening once. H22 tranny in about 300 million peices, snapped a chromoly flywheel right off the crank and pulled half the bolts out of the block. Thank god it wasnt our car, that thing was sickening to work on, haha.
