need help auto to manual conversion i have 1 question
alright so i swapped my auto to a 5spd an im still running on the auto ecu an harness but i just ordered a 5spd engine harness and ihave a ecu already laying here.
now this is my question can i just swap out the engine harnesses? or do i have to also change the dash harness? does the neutral saftey switch hook up to the engine harness or dash harness? how can i wire it so that it thinks the clutch is down without having to install the actual switch?

If he swapped in the manual ECU he would. You will have to just run your own wire, there is one that uses the same pin as the manual clutch switch, but I can't remember what it goes to. Anyways it is light green, and you don't need it if you don't have the auto tranny (I think it is the position sensor?) add on to this wire and either connect it to the clutch pedal positon sensor if you want to have to push the pedal down or ground it if you don't want to have to push the pedal down.
Yes it is the transmission range switch and it is light green (just looked it up). I think it is on the C101 clip or the only interior clip that plugs into the ECU, but there is another light green wire on there too. Do you have the helms manual??
^I wonder how that would work. The auto ecu's have CVT and I would imagine something probably wouldn't work right if you didn't have the correct sensors hooked up to the tranny telling the ecu the throttle/gearing conditions. I may be wrong on this but it doesn't make sense to me. Of course I don't fully understand auto trannies anyways.

lol it works but the auto ecu rev limiter is alot lower i cant rev past 5500 rpms with the auto ecu i mean the car runs beautiful but i wanna turbo it and i have a vtec head going on so im using a ex ecu and harness.
i dont want any check engine lights or anything i want it 100% stock looking swap.
plus the reverse and speed sensor clips dont fit with the auto ecu and the reverse id have to wire up i already have the harness id rather just use it i just wanna make sure the dash wiring is still the same? if all i have to do is ground it then thats what i wanna do

Yea i asked the shop about your situation too, im like i dont wanan get stuck only revving to 5500 they're like "We aren't sure why that happened with his, but the last EM2 we converted to manual we had no problem with"
They've done a at->mt on a Em2 before and had no problems with the auto, and they are a very reputable shop here. They've proably done around 40-70 k20 swaps, Right Hand Drive conversions. Their customer service is fantastic, i know someone who had his suspension done and he kept having problems with the tein upper mounts, and was able to take it back weeks after words and they re did it all for free even asked he he wanted them to just use RSX **** and he'd be 5 lug. Did my buddies custom exhaust and they quoted him for a pricce then they call "yea we gotta change some stuff up, since you bought EX **** and you have LX" still charged him not a cent more in labor or parts.
I trust them, but yea i asked them again about it...
is it just ecu harness/ecu or is there other **** i need? cause if its just 2 items i'll tell them to pick up manual ecu/harness
wow sorry to ***** your thread varner

its cool but yea the auto ecu isnt gonna let your rev up the motor its gonna think your in park or atleast in my situation its just easier to swap to the harness and ecu to have the job 100%
Alright, yea i kept asking them about the whole 5500rpm thing etc, and they really just said we can make it so it will go to 6800 etc. but they said i'd have a CEL for the transmission with auto ecu/wiring. my main concern is the problem you had 5500.... i know someone was selling a damn manaul harness before maybe i can find the harness/ecu for cheap and still come out $1500 ish..
varner do you know how much a manual ecu is or where to get one?
btw + rep for ya man

i just bought a manual harness for 80 shipped from xrs it should be here soon.
and 1500 isnt bad my total was close to 2000 but i also got exedy clutch an act prolight flywheel and lots of brand new parts from honda.

i think you need to swap out the dash harness too because the wiring for an auto has a lot more sensors on the tranny compared to a manual...if u change the harness/ecu your rev will go to 6800 and you will need to push clutch in to start the car...i dont know if the wiring is different but i've had easier success just changing it to the correct part
If you are only reving up to 5500 on the street, while moving then you wired something up wrong because you should be able to make the auto ecu work. It is a pain in the ***, but it does work. What you have to do is make sure that the reverse, neutral, park, and drive are all seeing ground and it will start and run. I am thinking that there is one more wire, but I can't remember what it is. Also if you don't wire the car up to think is in drive (just wire it up to think it is in park/neutral/reverse so it starts) it will run, but it will not run right and be much slower than it should be.
nice emk20a2, so other people beleive it works.. i mean i trust the shop as i said earlier just wanna get confirmation.
varner- i was going to get all the parts myself too than they're like "we can get parts and labor for $1500 man" i was like **** ya! but i'll be getting a exedy stage 1 organic clutch so i dont gotta swap out clutches again when i boost wewt.
seriously thanks for all your help

i took the black box off the trans it tells the ecu what gear the car is in. i left it in park so i could take the key out.
so what do i need to do to that to wire it all correctly? id rather just do that and use the vafcII for my head? i just want everything to run properly so i can turbo it

Haha that is exacly what we did, then one day after starting the car I decided to turn it to drive and it was like someone put a turbo in my car LOL. It was completely faster.
