VAFC II -vs- SAFC Neo ??

So I have an 04 SI, and I have read soo many posts of people going back and forth with the vafc ii, some saying that it is god, and most saying that it will kill your car within 5 miles. And then today my friend was telling me that his brother put a safc neo on his s2000 and that it has been great, and that it even has features specifically for vtec.

So this forum is pretty much just for open discussion about both products, so that I can draw a more specific conclusion about which way to go here with engine management. (no, I dont want the GReddy emanage lol)

Also, while im asking questions, are there any interfaces that allow you to plug your obd2 into an apple laptop running osx?

Thanx in advanced.

mmmm i think that you should go for the VAFCII, because they will work better and they are more popular,i have a 05 civic and i will put a turbo kit and for engine management i will use the apexi SAFC and rsx-s injectors, i think they will run good....@ low boost 6 psi!!....

^^^ you gonna be using a safc with the turbo kit? never heard of that before. usually people just use the AEM EMS or the greddy e-management.

but anyways...the vafc2 will get my vote. more people have them, more people had to tune them and what not, and blah blah blah. and definately vafc2 will not break your car in 5 minutes. dont know who told you that but they gotta be dumb.

From the Apex-i site! Your welcome!

The SAFC NEO marks the newest edition to the world famous Super AFC line of piggy back fuel controllers. Building upon the powerful SAFC II, the AFC NEO has taken piggy back style fuel control to a new level. The AFC NEO boasts an incredible 16 points of user definable fuel correction. VTEC control has also been incorporated for Honda/Acura applications. A complete monitor mode is also available to keep the driver/tuner informed of critical engine data.

Features include:

- Completely new case design
- Compact design
- Incorporates both AFC and VAFC functions in one unit
- 16 point fuel correction
- Color FED display
- User defined button and background colors
- Inverted "anti-glare" screen

Key functions include:

MONITOR MODE-
* RPM
* Throttle
* Battery voltage
* Correction %
* Air flow %
* Pressure
* Karmann
* VTEC

SETTING MODE-
* Air map
* Air map graph

CONCEPT:
High resolution fuel control with integrated VTEC control.

The highly anticipated release of the new A'PEX VAFC II started a new revolution in piggy-back style fuel controllers. Building upon the world wide success of the previous VAFC, the new VAFC II has taken the proven technology of the last VAFC to the next level. For optimal fuel control, the VAFC now allows for 12 point fuel manipulation in 100 RPM increments. The VAFC II also allows for the VTEC engagement point to be manipulated from 3000-7000 RPM, including the new i-VTEC systems. The redesigned case features a center push button with a rotating outer switch for easy and precise data input. To protect data maps from being tampered with, the new VAFC II features a password protection system.

Like the Super AFC II, the VAFC II displays data in three different modes: Numerical, analog, and graph. Numerical mode allows the user to monitor up to four different values in numerical format and also shows peak hold values on demand. The analog mode displays up to two values in an easy to read meter style display. Peak hold is included in analog mode as well. The graph mode offers real time graph plotting with a built in ghost map trace feature. The graph can relay movement up to 60 seconds.

New Features Include:

- New case design with center push button and rotating outer switch
- VTEC engagement control from 3000-7000 RPM in 100 RPM increments
- 12 point fuel control for LOW and HIGH VTEC maps (total of 24 points)
- i-VTEC compliant
- Monitor i-VTEC VVT movement in real time
- Password protection
- Red LED light indicated cam switchover point
- EEPROM chip for maximum data storage
- VTEC Match/Unmatch correction for smooth VTEC engagement modification
- Versatile mounting bracket

for an 04 SI i say just go for K-pro. its made by hondata and will allow laptop interface and much better tuning features than any piggyback.

The Hondata K-Pro looks pretty cool, But it is wayyyy more than I want to spend. For that much money I could blow my motor. Im looking to spend <500 bux. I checked out the GReddy Vmanage, and it looks sweet but a price isnt listed. Does anyone know what the launch price is gonna be and if the interface will be osx compatible. (it sucks, but it is a must)

everything should be compatible. the vmanage should be around that price dependant on the extra sensors and such you buy. since you wont be boosting you may not need all the additions so it should be relatively cheap. i would say under the $500 marker. but remember you will also need dyno time from a greddy certified tuner
