Effective boost/launch control
I recently picked up a Perrin Electronic Boost Control Solenoid at the suggestion of my tuner for better traction control in 1st and 2nd gear and WOW what a difference.
Of course I had to install a 7 psi wastegate spring, but no big deal.
Basically, with the AEM, this little $100 part will allow full versatility of boost in a given gear or at different mph increments.
So, you can run gear dependent boost or you can adjust the boost levels at 16 mph increments.
This part is so nice. If I'm at a roll in 1st gear and I punch it at any rpm, the tires NEVER break loose, same in 2nd and 3d gear. This, coupled with the new lsd I plan to pick up soon should make 60 foots at the track and even on the street a snap to get some good times down.
Anyone having traction control issues with turbo and running an aem, I highly suggest picking one up and having it tuned.
And YES, you must have standalone to control it, it will not work with stock ecu.

True, the AEM can control a boost solenoid. It does not need to be the Perrin one, it can be from almost any electronic boost controller solenoid. The AEM EMS is extremely powerful and can control quite a bit including traction, launch, nitrous, decel fuel cut and much more.

What does nitrous or decel fuel cut have to do with anything? This isn't a topic about all of the many abilities of the aem, its about controlling boost, another factor that alot of people may not realize they can have control over. If you'd like to start your own thread about how wonderful the aem is and explain in depth all of its great benefits and your personal tuning experiences, go for it, I won't come in there talking about a boost solenoid.

No, it doesn't need to be the Perrin one. But from several tuners I've spoken with, many have suggested this one and I can now see why.

I think reliability. They basically all do the same thing but I was doing some research on AEM's website and came across alot of people using the gm part and had boost fluctuation. The techs say that it's due to the misuse of the EMS but my personal thoughts are that when you get a cheap part, you should expect cheap quality.

got pics of it installed? im assuming this ties into the vac line for the boost controller? sounds promising, hit the track now.
yeah I was thinking about using the gm one but a few people said to look into other ones because they werent that great. I dont mind spending more money if Im getting a better product for something like that.

I can vouch, if its set up correctly, it doesn't spike one little bit and it only climbs when you tell it to. Very nice part.
Nah, no pics of it installed. The setup is a little complicated. It takes one line from a non-vacuum pressure source and t's into it, one side into the solenoid, the other side into the wastegate, then another port runs to the other wastegate port and the 3d port on the solenoid is left uncovered.
