Well before anyone goes either way, I'd say get the motor together, see if the bearings fit in the remachined crank end (what worries me is the locator for the bearings being either buzzed off or not big enough because it was machined) and run the motor for a couple hundred miles. Then we'll see how this works.

dam that took a while to read. so after you pour all that money in to try and reach 200hp, are you going to attempt going ITB's for the d17? since they make them for the d16, couldnt they be modded to fit the d17?
ya they can be built to fit the D17. I am researching on how much they are. I might do a set down the road
i believe there was a streetfire video running around with a d17 using GSXR t/b's. realistically you couls use a d16 kit and cut off the head flange and weld on a modded d17 injector plate.

This is another n/a mod, that is going into d17 chapter.
(tried repping you, but it says I need spread rep around...I'll do it later)
just stay with the d17 head. i mean your going to have headwork done anyway so you may as well save yourself the headache of making the z6 head work. after headwork there shouldnt be a difference in flow

If it does, for the sake of more parts than you can throw at it, full time 16 valve operation and everyone knowing how to work with it, I'd say go there. But I was not aware that the older heads were able to work.... something doesnt line up.
OK so theres more now since i am doing an auto to manual swap will i need a manual ecu if i get the AEM program to tune it? Also might be selling my pistons any interested i am going turbo so i am getting a a different compression.
