Rep Power: 277 New Parts!!!! YES Also Help from N/A Guys Upddate Pg 6 12/25/06
Well i got a few new parts on friday. I got a great deal on these parts from a good friend of mine So i will share what i got. I got a brand new racing cankshaft, Eagle rods, Ross pistons 76mm, Rings, and Bearings. Well i got a 12:5:1 compression pistons. So my question is what kind of parts should i install in my head? Do i need to get bigger valves? I know i am going to upgrade my springs and retainers nut what camshaft should i go with stage 2 or stage 3? I am trying to get over 200horsepower i know a lot of people ar saying you cant but i know u can. I am building a custom intake manifold with a mustang throttle body i want to thanks supermex for his help on that. So to sum it up what parts should i use to reach my goal. Also should i get sleeves in my block or a blockguard? I hear that i should and i hear i shouldn't. Any help would be greatly appericated if ur going to leave post that say its impossible dont post. I have done my research and i would like advice from my fellow N/A members or turbo peopel if they have good advice. Thanks for looking. Dezod need to help here

Rep Power: 277 glad u said that its goign to be a weekend car not a daiy driver. i have been looking into the stage two. I know i will get better gains with a stage three and i want to hit my goal. There was a link on here about a camshaft that custom made it has better specs then a crower. Let me find the link
heres the spec on the cutom cam

heres the spec on the stage 2 crower

Rep Power: 245 i would go for the stage 3 or a custom cam if you're looking for 200hp you'll need to raise the rev limit quite a bit to reach 200 i think, and you'll need a cam that will make power all the way up to the new red line. new headgasket and arp headstuds might be needed since you are raising compression too and port&polish the head and enlarge the valves. not sure on sleeves or block guard, people would probably say block guard is enough just wait for more input on that. 200 on this motor n/a will be tough only because it's expensive good luck on your build though and it's good to see someone doing a full n/a build.

Rep Power: 269 thank god i am a freshman at the U of A or else i would be talking like them. Ok bro its impossible just give it up............. jk dude. Ok let here you go, 300whp used to be impossible for 7thgen now we have one with 396. Mine should have bout 350 to 400 when its done next month. Dont loose hope of dreams no matter what people say no matter what its a d17 we will also get doubted.
Here is what else your gonna need.
hopes and dreams....thats another j/k
pnp head with probably .5 bigger valves.
Stage 3 cam for sure
Aem Ems (leonhsieh has one for hella deal http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=280869)
valvesprings retainers
a good or decent intake
I would get a custom race header made
take off power steering
take off cat
gonna need rsx injectors
you shouldn't need sleeves
block guard might as well install one when head is off
arp headstuds
misc stuff you might want
the new Quife lsd that just came out
engine damper
just stuff to make it run faster at the track
Its gonna be hard bro but if it was easy it wouldn't be so badass to accomplish. Let us know everything and give us updates, i will fully support your ideas and goals all the way. Good luck and dont give up. Its cool your doing something different.

Rep Power: 272 If you are going to build a manifold make sure you have some sort of tapered runners with velocity stacks. Straight runners dont work as good for n/a apps. You can get em from Velocity of Sound online. Also that crank looks like a stock crank, is anything done to it? Where did ya buy it? Just making sure you didnt get ripped on it. KMS sold me stock HG for 80 bucks once. People out there suck. The stock crank is probably the best thing to run in it anyway. GL I cant wait to see what happens.

Rep Power: 272 Oh yeah, If you are all freaked out about picking the right bearings, dont be. Buy ACL race bearings for a D16. They are the same thing and they conform to your crank so you dont have to spend all that time matching oem spec bearings, they are sick bearings. I really like em, I wont run anything else in Hi-perf engines.

wow those parts look amazing...good luck with your project
(I just finished a shakespeare paper last semester, but I dont have the same book as you lol)
anyways, im going N/A as well. Right now Im going to get some lighter wheels, compared to my 17" Konig Troubles, although they do look sick on my car. After that...prob. going EX head swap + camshaft/camgear and tune it.
That might only be happening in this summer coming up though

Rep Power: 233 looks good man got some good parts... as for the dezod camshaft i wanted 2 get it also, but it wont be out 4awhile. he still needs 2 finish the ported head stuff and the IM. so i went with the stage2 cam for turbo. if u go stage3 u will need the EMS. so ur lookin at more $. and i got the wiseco pistons but mine were 75mm now 76mm. so i think i might have 2 bore ur motor a little? not sure idk.. and i dident know they had a racing crankshaft for our cars thats nice

Maybe you should try to get some custom ITB's now that would be sweet!

If you are going to go full n/a why not use Individual Throttlebodys instead of an intake manifold , from what i head on honda tech they work very good on d16 so why not a d17. U will have to get them custom made ofcourse. oh get some power pullys to.

Rep Power: 232 i woud say yes to sleeves and block guard. theres a link on ehre somewhere in an engine build thread that has the part # for 76mm sleeves. and the block guard will need to be modified to flow mroe water so you dont overheat. theres not a lot of room to spare on the cylinder sleeves on the d17 block and when you thin the walls down you dont want failure. so i would go with sleeves and blockguard. just my 2 cents. i did an a2 build and swap a few days ago and i didnt do a block guard. now im going to have to pull the head again when i get dezods. also would go ahead with the arp headstuds. i got mine and they should come in handy down the road if you have plans for spray or anything.
