ok.. so here's the deal... ill be gettin my ca back on the road soon becuase of an accident i had where a truck took me out on the highway... it'll be back on the road just long enough for it to have to get back off and do some transmission work. I've taken a look into what i need it im pretty much lookin at replacing all the bearing, clutch, discs and the flywheel...

now here's my qestion.. and yes.. the search buttton has been used.

what transmissions will fit in my d17a2 coupe 5 speed ex 2001. I would like to swap it for another, newer one or a different style if its possible. Is it poosible for having a k20 tranny directly on it.. becuase i assume not, but in the future i wish to do the k20 swap. If the k20 tranny for the type s did fir with the 6 speed, it would overall help me out, cause then i could just swap the engine over afterwards. I also assme it would take alot of custom fab to, but back to the origional question...

what trannys will fit? and would it be worth swapping or just restoring my tranny?

Use the damn search button. Someone asks this question once a week. If you want 6 reverse gears and a forward gear then swap in a K20A2 tranny. Look under both hoods and think about it for 3 seconds.

I heard you can use a Freightliner 10 speed....not sure tho. I havent seen it done yet. You should look into it.

04-05 tranny's dont have the problem that the 01-03's have. no a k20 tranny wont work and you may be able to use a d16z6, but there is no definate answer as to if this works or not
