PEDALS: auto to manual

Ok, to justify myself, I wasn't into cars when I bought my 2004 civic ex, which is why I got an auto tranny. Once I have the money saved up, I'm going to swap in a K20A2 and convert it to manual. A lot of people keep telling me "Oh, that's going to be a lot of work" or "it would be easier to sell your civic and buy one with a stick." Hell, no. This is my first car and I plan on keeping it for a long, long time. The other day I was looking at the pedals, and there are precut holes for the clutch pedal, but they are capped off with another piece of metal. I'm thinking I would need to remove the front seats and entire dash to be able to even have enough room to drill/do what's necessary. The gas pedal is the same, right? The brake pedal looked like it wouldn't be too hard to swap out. I asked gearbox about this before posting this thread, but he didn't know how to do it. Does anyone know how to do this, or know of a link to a DIY for swapping out the actual pedals?

Note: I did read a lot of lengthy threads on the auto to manual swap, but none of them showed how to install the clutch pedal and/or swap the brake pedal.

It shouldnt be too hard... a bunch of people have done it. dru106 just completed his K20a2 swap into his Automatic civic. Maybe if he sees this post, he can put in his 2cents on how they did it. I will be doing this soon too. Just waiting for a few more parts!

Thanks for the reply. It doesn't seem like it would be too difficult, I was just wanting some input from someone who's already done it to give me some pointers. The stock EM2 manual pedals will work with the best with the K20A2 swap, right? I think I remember reading someone tried to use the RSX pedals, and they didn't bolt up correctly.

Its not that hard. The only problem is drilling a hole for the top bolt on the manual pedal... I recommend you to remove the window wiper motor with the linkages before u start drilling the holes for the top ones cuz we accidently drilled through the wiper motor harness and my wipers werent working for weeks till I got another one

And yes speedo works now!! He just forgot to reconnect the wire pin into the correct spot....

When you were drilling the hole for the top bolt of the manual pedal, did you have to remove the lower dash? Or can you drill the hole while you're laying on your back on the floorboard?
