Re: Auto to Manual

varner88, what did you have to do to put in the clutch pedal? did you have to drill anything? or is the holes pretapped?

Re: Auto to Manual

the holes are punched like dented in you just gotta drill out the markings.. it was a very very easy swap.

Re: Auto to Manual

you dont have to remove the dash for anyof the swapp its was very simple.. you just use a regular drille its not the roomiest place to work in but it does work.

Re: Auto to Manual

wow this thread is helpful as f*ck.

quick question, is the connection plug on the MT's speed sensor the same as the AT's? in other word can I connect to the MT one using my AT harness?

cuz I will most likely keep my AT harnesses & my AT ECU when I swap.

and im not looking to go fast.. i like to do a little autocross and want a stick so i can make use of my powerband

ive been reading up on all things i could search

i just need answers to this
do you really need a manual tranny ECU? do you need the engine harness and dash harness? on this car is it nessecary to cut the floorpan to accomidate the shifter assembly?

and if possible est prices on all the parts ive listed above?

haha yea i dont have much.. as i said earlier im 17 working and not getting more than 400 a month.

i live in hawaii (kauai to be exact) and theres only 1 junkyard here.. i go there weekly to see if theres anything available.. there once was a blue em2 stick there.. but i was only 14 haha and didnt think about doing this yet

and adding to that, since i live in hawaii shipping is gonna be rape.. so might as well make that $1000 estamite to $1500 just for shipping
if you want to make the most of your powerband, stick it into the L and 2 gear...for autocross you will never use 3rd anyway..2nd ends at 60 somethin, and with a stock motor, you wont be going faster than that becuase autocross is mostly winding and well...our cars dont have enough power to get to over 60 in that short a distance. its honestly not worth it...i didnt read through the thread i duno if you did it already or how deep in you are, but i say just buy a diff car...an older civic will be even better. if you want to autocross, this isnt the best car for it...far from it for that matter. besides, manual swaping your car wont make it that much faster. i remember i wanted to manual swap my old 98 neon DOHC because it had a 3 speed auto and it would go from a 17 second car to a 15 second car just with that, plus there were ecu upgrades nad such for the 5-speed...not the case here. stick with your auto or get a different car, its just not worth it unless your car is heavily modified.

varner, is there room to unbolt the a/c compressor while its still in the car? That way i can push it back and not have to discharge it.

post progress pics please. are you changing your ecu and any part of the wiring harness? is the tranny mount thats spot welded to the chassis in the same location?

money isn't that big of an issue, finding the parts and having it shipped to hawaii is the problem. i can do it right myself, i just need to make sure of stuff before i do the conversion to minimize downtime as much as possible.

Re: Auto to Manual

uncharging the a/c is a peice of cake lol you just unscrew that cap stick a screw driver in there and it will do the work itself.. just stand back and watch. its easier this way..

but why are you taking the ac out? jw? cuz you dont need to mess with it for the trans swap

oh and guys you dont need a diy this is simple as mechanics can get lolol.
