K24a4 swap??
I've been doing my research on a k24 swap and everyone is always talking about the CRV and TSX k24s but I don't read much about the Element k24. From what I understand the Element K24 is the same as the accord but i was wondering if it's an easy swap to put in the element k24 into my civic. Any details would be useful or any concerns... thanks
all k24s EXTERNALLY are the same.. they all swap in the same as any k24 as how you would swap a k20.....
HOWEVER.. here are the differences in actual performances
K24A1 (PPA), CRV (LRD)
160hp @ 6000rpm / 162lb-ft @ 3600rpm
Redline: 6500rpm
Compression: 9.6:1
K24A2 (RBB),TSX (CL)
200hp @ 6800rpm / 166lb-ft @ 4500rpm
7100rpm
10.5:1
*K24A3 (RAA), Accord (03+ CM, 5th Gen V6 and Wagon CE)
160hp @ 5500rpm / 161lb-ft @ 4500rpm
6500rpm
9.7:1
*K24A4 (PZD), Element (YH)
160hp @ 5500rpm / 161lb-ft @ 4500rpm
6500rpm
9.7:1
The only reason you might read about people using a certain block over another is the fact due to clearance issues with swapping a k20a2 head on a k24 block to do what we call a FRANKENSTEIN... this by all means gives you the power of the K20 with the TORQUE of the K24... here is what i mean.. the following below is the types of k24 blocks and also if they will accept a k20 head
K24A1 (crv) - yes
K24A2 (tsx) - yes
K24A3 (element) - no, valve clearance issues
K24A4 (accord) - no, valve clearance issues
as you can see that the element and the accord k24 blocks have clearance issues when running a k20 head.. by all means if you are going to do a frankenstein then you need to either use a TSX or CRV block... but if you want a straight k24 you can use any of the k24 blocks...
With a TSX block, k20a2 head, h.c. valves, and kpro, you will have around 207hp 175 TQ on a Mustang Dyno, with k20a2 block, k20a2 head, h.c. valves and k pro, you will have 210hp 155pound. The power from the k20a2 block will be between 6k and 8.5k. With the TSX block, the power will come earlier between 4.5k and 7.5k and sometime 8k.

you can use the other 2 k24 motors that would have clearance issuse if you swapped head BUT... there is a big but... you have to either use i think it was the TSX rods and pistons ... OR... get aftermarket rods and pistons...
if you want a straight k24 swap hassle free no more money to spend then you can use ANY of the k24 engines... but if you sometime down the line decide to put on a k20a2 head then you are screwed with the accord and element blocks

does anybody know of a good place to buy the k20heads? Every junkyard and salvage place around here will not break up the motors since they are so new. I just got a price quote of 1400 for a k24a2.
Its a celebration bitches!

k20a.org, clubrsx.com
d17s are not interchangable with k. nothing is. you need a new header and b-pipe
1400 is good for a k24a2, but you still need a k20 manual tranny, subframe, k20 TB and intake mani. you will also need kpro and all other swap things
