lowering vtec point problem!!
lowering vtec point problem!!
I Have a 01 civic ex turbo. The car runs strong but the vtec sucks. It hits at 5500 rpm and its basically useless cause then u have to shift.I have been talking to companys about lowering the vtec point and they said that some vtec controllers wont work with vtec-E which is what the 01-05 civic d17a2 motors have and the hx motors but who gets an hx for performance ya know. I talked to apexi and they said that the vafc will lower the vtec point but the ecu will go into safe mode but he said that people have added a wire or something and have got it to work.Does anyone know how to lower the vtec point so i can have boost and vtec at around the same time instead of the 5500 rpm circus ****.Any info will help, dont hate.

First the d17a2 VTEC engagement is not at 5500 it's a lot lower somewhere between 2500 and 3500. This is because it has the VTEC-E as you pointed out. The V-AFC 2 should work but I don't have one so I don't know.
Once boosted now i-VTEC

Why do some people still think the d17a2 has a 5500 rpm vtec point
