im frustrated.... but i have boost now.
Well, i am frustrated. I have a vaccum leak on my GSR manifold that requires the removal of the manifold. And if i remove it, it is not going back on my car just because im pissed. And it also killed my dream of the total sleeper look, and i want to try to get back to that.
Also, i want to build a different turbo setup. The one i have now works fine. But, i want to put my battery back up front now so i dont have to install a kill switch. So yea, i am going to make a conventional turbo manifold and build heat shields to cover it up.
So if anyone wants the parts, its up for sale in the for-sale forum or look in my sig.
I just wanted to let everyone know im frustrated. And im gonna change some stuff around.
::edit:: not selling it anymore. My wife changed my mind.

well.... im keeping the stuff.
I was able to fix the vaccum leak today without taking the manifold off. So that is a plus.
Also, i couldnt make any boost. Even after installing my wastegate and welding up the hole in my IC. No boost at all.
So i was like "ok, we will figure this out after IDRC"
So im cruising over there (15 min drive) and half way there, my turbo starts making a terrible whining noise, and then siezes.
so im like "WTF!!!!"
I hobble it to my dads house. And start tearing **** apart.
Due to a horrible turbo placement on my part, i had to use a slinky tube for my air intake pipe to the turbo. And what i didnt know was that the slinky tube had a coupler shoved INSIDE of it, in the middle. And the packaging said it only came with 1 coupler, not 2. Anyway, what happened was that my turbo sucked the coupler into the inlet of the turbo, and got caught in the impeller. So yea, i pulled it out and inspected the turbo. It doesnt look like it bent the shaft, there is no more play than there was before, and there were no bent impeller blades.
So i take that out and re-install my air intake and go for a test drive. STILL NO BOOST! WTF?
upon closer inspection, i found that as the motor torques, the exhaust donut inside the flange leaks around the sides. Apparantly the donut was too small for the flange. So i swap gaskets to a slightly larger one, and go for a drive. It makes 2.5 psi of boost. But, its a 7 psi wastegate. And i could hear another exhaust leak.
It was leaking in the same spot. So I was going to cut the flange off and install a smaller ball joint flange. So i shove a rag down the exhaust pipe to prevent any filings from getting in there and plugging the cat. But then we decided to try another donut gasket we had. And we mod the header to utilize this gasket and re-install the header. By this time it is about 8:30 pm. We get it all back installed, and i go to leave. HORRIBLE EXHAUST LEAK!! And the car has NO POWER AT ALL!! I figure this out by driving it out of my driveway, down the street about 50 feet, then turn around and back into the driveway.
Can you guess what happened?!?! Yea... you guessed it. I am the dumbest mother****er on the face of the earth. I installed the header without pulling the rag out of the exhaust. So now the rag is wadded up right before the turbo.
I was sooooooooo pissed off that i said f*ck it, and took my dads truck home.
So tomorrow morning i am going to pull the turbo off, pull the rag out, and put it all back together.
I am sooooooooo frustrated. You guys have no clue.

if i had the money..... i would.
Hell, if i had the money, i would buy my parents 99 vette off of them and twin turbo that. Or i would buy my brothers RX8 (which he is trading in on tuesday) and turbo that.
I have all kinds of ideas...... i just dont have the funds to do any of them.
I would love a K24 frankenstein swap. I would twin charge the damn thing after doing all the same work to that block as i did to mine. I just dont have the funds.
Even if i had $10 million, i would still do all the work myself.

hahaha....
How about this.....
I will start selling raffle tickets. And when i have enough money to do the swap, build the motor, and do the twin charger unit.... I will raffle off my current built motor, built trans, and turbo system.

intake mani's and what not.
lol ill keep a look out for a k24 block for you. also i think that the new 06 si head on that would dominate over the k20a2 head on it.

For reasons like this, I have given up on modding my car. I would much rather have a boosted and reliable stock car. No headaches or worries.

should say re-built. And its a 5 speed.
I took it apart and replaced some of the weak bearings.
Im still looking for some very specific sized bearings to replace some of the ones in the tranny. Im not having much luck. Most the bearing companies i email dont ever respond back.
