Unanswered Engine/Tranny Swap Question....??

I read through most of the stickies about engine swaps etc. Let's say I have a quest for a better daily driver civic. I want to drastically improve the car's engine while keeping a civic for insurance values etc etc.

I'm thinking about doing a swap but keeping the tranny and AUTO. I'm a lazy driver for one and keeping it an AUTO will keep me from building the engine and saving my money. My question is this....WILL THE AUTO TRANNIES FROM THE K20'S AND 24'S WORK IN THE CIVIC?

I don't really need anyone to give me crap about staying auto. I'd just like to know the answer. Thanks.

Well you could addapt them to fit, but that would take some serious fabrication of sorts, But as for direct bolt up. I dont think they do.

OK let's say it does bolt up. What about the shift console? The RSX's and TSX's have the tip-tronic tranny. Will the console get in the way of the shifter? I suppose I could use the Accord tranny. Also, I forget. Can we use the TSX trannies in the civic?

Anyone have anymore info on this that might help? All articles I've read have been on the manual trannies.

You mean the K20A2? That makes sense. What about the base K20A3 or K24 series?

k20a.. k20a2 and k20a3 are all the same... the only MAIN differences are the head and compression.. other than that everything is the same.. the auto tranny will bolt up to any k20 motor...

The K20 and K20A2 engines are OUT in my opinion, at least for as far as this swap would be concerned. I'm basically only looking for a better daily driver and not looking to build the engine. If that were the case I would have a K20A2 and matching 6 speed. I've read COUNTLESS articles on those engine builds. I just want more power then the D17A2 and I want an AUTO for daily driving. I really just need to know if the AUTO will work in the Civic.
