tranny
tranny
I have been reading up on people doing AT/MT swaps, and I have decided to swap mine. However, people have been saying that the entire transmission costs around $600, and I haven't found one. I don't really know where to look. Can someone point me in the right direction for finding all the parts I need? Is there a certain site that I can get everything?

junkyards a good idea, you can try cherryauto.com or car-part.com if u wanna try online sources. You could also do a search online and alot of online salvage yards will pop up.
I was thinking about cherry-auto.com for the transmission itself. I figure a used transmission that's in good condition would be better than spending $2500 on a new one. Then I will have more money to spend on things like a better clutch and flywheel, etc. Any places you can recommend for the smaller parts like the subframe, motor mounts, etc.?
Alright, you say I can do it for under a grand, but nobody can seem to tell me where to get parts. I found the tranny that I'm probably going to get for $600, but it doesn't come with anything else.

Dude, it seriously isn't worth it. Not only do you need the parts that turboengnr said, but you need an ECU. The ECU is needed because it is programmed to shift for an automatic. When it senses a manual transmission, it won't know what to do. But then again, I don't know much about ECUs, so I am going off my limited knowledge.
It will cost you at least $1500 not with install. But it is your money, not mine.

Does anyone know whether or not the parts that I need can be from any 7th Gen or does it have to be from an 04 LX? Things like the subframe and axels. Some of the parts I'm going to buy from Honda, but others I'd like to get from a junkyard and I just needed to know if all the years and models would work.

the ecu will not be hooked up to the auto tranny anymore. so basically you wont worry about that.
just keep your stock ecu, it will work, search, there have been threads about it, and that person kept their stock subframe and auto ecu, it worked perfectly
