Rep Power: 0 k20a3 --> k20a2?
Hey, just wondering if this could be done...I would think a k20a3 swap would be a heck of a lot cheaper than a k20a2, but you'd really miss that extra 40 or so hp. But, couldn't you swap the a3 in, and then pick up an a2 head from a junker and swap them out? I mean, there's got to be a way to do that, with a few mods to the head and such, right? Anyone already done this? Or has this been figured out already in a magazine I don't get?
thanks in advance.
edit...wow.. just noticed my point total is 6666...creepy.

Rep Power: 295 OKay, they took it a step further, they used a K24 block, and put K20A2 heads on it. Here ya go,

even with a k20a2 head on a k20a3 block, you won't make as much power. K20a3 compression is 9.6:1 (iirc) while the k20a2 has 11.0:1 compression.
from what I've read, the k20a3 crank is balanced and the k20a2 crank is balanced and counterbalanced ... I've also read the k20a2 block has oil squirters while the a3 does not.
I wouldn't go with an a3 ... but that's just me ;P

Rep Power: 0 yeah, you're all probably right...how much does a k24 run these days?
edit: actually...nah. k24 would be nice, but I like the k20a2. It's pretty damn sporty.

Rep Power: 0 you can do the k20a3 swap and either get a custom cam regrind from a company called razz. someone bought it from them and gained 30whp untuned. and he had 110k on his a3. another option would be get a 6 speed tranny, a2 head, crank, pistons and rods.

Rep Power: 0 k20a3 only makes 125.8 whp... thats nearly 10 hp less than a b16a's 138whp. k20a3 is a terrible engine IMO...
Also both are rated at 160 crank HP.

Rep Power: 338 ^ agreed.
drivetofast's k20a3 with aem cai, hondata img, stock header/cat, greddy evo2 exhaust made 126 whp ... same setup with dc race header made 141 whp.
k20a3 = crappy.
